yea thats the question.
But although its american you have to remember it was designed for RR and is still a "good" car. it was taken from the lemans car in the 60's that spanked ferrari 4 years in a row. so although it was slower then a commuter the car is not slower then the commuter only the driver was. we ran into this problem in my buddies hatch vs a brand new gt40 at Gman a year ago. he let us pass within a lap though

What kind of lap times does Don and that civic run at VIR Full? is it H1 legal to compare against other H1 lap times?
there are lots of high HP cars with shitty drivers...... the GT (it is not a GT40 ) being one of them.
Hell i think a SM could lap VIR faster than that GT...

Went to Carguys at VIR last weekend. Some nice cars there including a souped up Ford GT 40. The owner was claiming over 700 whp and bragging about how no one has been able to catch him or keep up with him. I got tired of him bragging and decided to shut him up.

Looks to me I saw American Iron (a.k.a. chitbox) getting in the way of a commuter car.

All you saw is a bad driver holding up a decent one. That is all. End of story.
I know this is a Honda site and all, but come on, be real.

I think Don runs somewhere around a 2:12 on Full Course. The car is not H1 legal (turbo), though those times are about on par with competitive H1 times (lap record is a 2:11.x I think?).

He's definitely not faster than the fastest H1 guys. I know car setup (other than motor) is a bit different, I don't know how much that plays a part in it.

based on the response of his car having H1+++ Hp......
i am not seeing the "don is a god" qualities in this video.... he had a shitty driver in a faster car hold him up..... that has probably never happened to anyone else...

Cool vid thanks for sharing it
Brings back memories when I ran full course with HT.com at VIR in 2002. Super fun. But I had a crappy instructor.

All the current H1 clowns have "race cars" that show up on trailers, Don has a 49 state legal "street" car that he drives to-on-from the track and has done so for over 3 years with at least 35K miles on the power plant/car/setup.
Last I heard Don's not out for "fastest lap", if you internet racers want to stack it up, let's got to "low boost" and raise the revs 2K then pull out the stopwatch.
***** all the haters.

Re: (B18CXr)
Did you read the title of your own thread? "240 whp Full-Race Civic"
WTF!! Now all of the sudden it is a street car.... Please make up your mind before posting!!
Since it has now become a street car... what does it weigh? 240whp is more than any of the h1 cars which weigh 2300 for B20 and 2450 for the K24 powered H1 cars.?
this thread will go further downhill from here.....
Nice driving Don....

if anyone is interested, there is a time attack time trail in less than 2 weeks at Summit (shenadoah). I will be there in my heap of **** 100% H1 legal S2000 doing some "internet racing" if anyone would like to "stack it up"...

Thanks for the vid!
Yes, there does seem to be a bit of an ego problem with the fellas that show up in the $100K+ vehicles and bench race spewing specs/etc. But it is alway frustrating being behind someone who won't give you a point by, regardless of the type of car and its driver.

Re: (WrongWD)
i don't see what the big deal is, some rich dude with a big mouth absolutely can not drive. And this car passes him. Sounds to be like BOTH have some big egos...
I have passed GT3 rs on slicks in my H4 car, and I am not fast still 2 seconds off of the track recored.
I have also watched SMs, H1, and H2 cars pass a Daytona Prototype.
The only thing any of this shows is that just because you have a car that should be fast doesn't mean that it is fast on the track.

Calm down guy, it is a street car with a Full-Race turbo kit. No need to bang heads and blow up over it.

lol yea plus I would be imbarresed if I only got 240whp outa a full race turbo kit. my NA b20 almost puts out those numbers along with most H1 cars are about that 220-240's. so to brag about passing a ford GT is nothing special.
+1 for good drivers
-100 for arrogance n big honda ego's (don't act like you don't have 1 when you pass an expensive car with a slow driver)
I love honda as much as the next guy but to say that street driveable 240 whp civic is passing a 700whp gt means nothing other then the driver was slow and cautious because he just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a car that you could only dream to afford and track for fun with.
Plus aren't lapping days for fun anyways, your not there to race or be competitive with any one else or else neither you or the gt would be there. so everyone takes there cars easier on those and practices techniques/ lines rather then lap times. When you pass a gt at an actual touring car race then you got **** to brag about.
Why is this post still open?

yes.
the gt driver is simply bad. we've all seen it plenty.
he's a dooshbag, "don" looks quick but hell i've never been to VIR so who knows. If he's a half a straightaway away from you and you catch up to him in the next turn there's no comparison.
i would have "locked up" and smoked him in the *** end for going 1/2 speed thru a corner after blowing me off. - i'll pay the small price of a shitty honda part and watch him shell out thousands for being a retard.
