*Chad - Just for you!* My Rockingham TT Video
http://www.project-seven.goof....t.wmv
Well, I just got back from my first ever trip to Rockingham. Everything is still in one piece and in working order. I was not sure what to expect from this track. On paper it looks pretty simple and possibly boring. Well it proved to be quite the opposite. This track it pretty fun and has a few technical challenges that aint exactly easy.
T1 (coming off the speedway into the infield) proved to be the hardest for me to get down. Figuring out the right aproach angle and braking over those transitions was a real challenge. There is still a little time left there, but I used all the courage I had for this weekend. The Fishhook (T3 & T4) is an exercise in patience for sure.
The laptimes are short (my best on Sat. was 1:10.42) and it is pretty busy. The banking is pretty intense and it starts to get a little bumpy at the exit if NASCAR T2. Just flat foot it and hang on (at least for my puny little CRX).
Thanks to o-man for a few helpful tips and for egging me on from the flag station.
The video is from Saturdays TT after just over an hour of total track time. I did not do the TT today since I had a pretty long drive back home. I think I smoothed everything up a little bit and should have found a bit more time...next time I guess.

Great driving this weekend! You didn't miss much by skipping today's TT. Poured down rain about half way through; called the event. I've got about 20 pics of the "gold" head lighted beast. Great to finally meet you too

Rain...I don't know if I could get my a-hole to pucker up enough to hit that banking in the wet. ...and they are yellow, not gold...

Great weekend. The track is really fun, more fun that I thought it would be. The banking is much like Charlotte, just a little slower. I'd say H4, H5 and *maybe* H3 cars should be able to take it without any lift. I entered at ~100mph, and was ~110 going into the braking zone for the infield. Be sure to drive over the concrete patch at the bottom of Nascar 2, or else you'll be in the wall at the exit. The entrance to the infield is holyshitbumpy. Suspension travel is your friend there.
Rockingham is HARD ON TIRES. You've been warned. Pretty easy on brakes though.
My Sunday TT was in a monsoon. I mean, if I had been driving on the interstate in that, I would have pulled off and waited. Surprisingly good grip on the 30something degree banking in the rain. The infield puddles up quite badly, FYI. It's like the damn road is concave or something. Standing water absolutely everywhere.

Another thing about the infield...there are no curbs in any of the turns. Any wheels off on the inside puts plenty of dirt/sand on the track for the next guy. If you don't have an LSD, don't cut the corners...
