GSXR Throttle Bodies (a thread continuation)

I made this thread to keep continuity of a good topic. The orginal thread was locked due to size, but the link is here:

I'll ask Lip to put this link in his last post on the original thread. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (Dogginator)

The 2000-2003 GSXR 750 throttle bodies measure 50 mm (may be 49.5 mm) at the inlet and 42 mm at the outlet. These are the same dimensions as the GSXR 1000 throttle bodies. I measured my throttle bodies. They are stamped with code 35F0. Check these links for the GSXR 1000:

Copied from old thread:

GSXR750 bodies, internal diameter of 48mm at opening taper down to 40mm and 44mm where the injector leads in.

Above were measured for me from a 1999 model with the desginaion WW, apparently the same as WX.

Indeed. The 96-99 GSXR 750 throttle bodies are smaller. They are stamped with the code 33E5.

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (Dogginator)

I havent read all of the other post yet...but i have a few questions. First of all...what would be the benefits of having shorter/longer runners with ITB's? It seems like shorter would give you better throttle response...but im not sure if longer ones would have that much if any benefit. Also, how do you figure out what size ITB's youll need? Thanks

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (sCeRaXn)

here's one of the runners thats done, i filled in the injector hole as u can see by this pic.

also got a question for you guys who've alread done the diy itbs.. what would work better: having one vaccuum line coming from runner #1 for brake booster? or just have it plugged into the vaccuum log with the rest of the vaccum lines?

It looks like its coming along. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif Did you have any problem with the manifold warping when you welded the tubes?

Speedz 09-11-2004 08:53 AM

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (Dogginator)

thanks man, no my welder was very careful about that.. i'm probably gonna surface the flange tho anyway. (i'm a perfectionist)

It looks like it is coming along well. Those velocity stacks are quite nice. Where did you find them? Have you check for brake booster clearance?

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (Dogginator)

not yet.. but when i had the ITB's in my engine bay, i think it was ok..

here's the guys email address i got them from (was waiting from email from him befor i posted) FASTLISLE@aol.com
he has them made locally.. he gets them in 3 sizes.. 1-7/8....2-1/8 and the 2-1/2 sizes.. and has a large supply of each size..
the 2.1/8" stacks fit perfect on the gsxr 1000 itbs. (at least they do on mine)

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (Speedz)

where the throttle bodies just laying around or did you purchase them?
and if so how much do a set of GSXR TB's go for?
Are there any charts for throttle body sizes that are appropriate to use with certain set ups?

info would be great
thanks alot https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: GSXR Throttle Bodies (MysteryWagon)

i bought mine off Ebay for $115 shipped.. they normally go for around 150 or so from what i've been seeing.. i guess it depends on if u get lucky or not as to how much you'll end up paying.

Jenvey's website has alot of good info on ITB sizing.. they also give a good idea on how a system should be designed.
here's a link to their Advice & FAQs http://www.jenvey.com/~Tech_QA.htm
also i suggest reading the VERY long archived thread that's posted at top of this thread. lots of good info there as well.

and here's a small update on fitting my stacks this afternoon.. i think they came out well.

what do most people use to tune on a basically stock d16z6.. vafc?

can someone do a rundown of the parts needed?
gsxr work best for d-series?

CRX_VTEC 09-19-2004 08:09 AM

Re: (dmoto)

for d series any gsxr would be good. 600 750 1000.. they'll all work. Hyabusa for B-series. Also.. for K series too. (1 set made) https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
