Default Wet Sanding Spray Paint

Like the title says, has anyone done this with a rattle can job? Below is the color im doing my eg, Krylon Gloss Hasta Leaf. I've always enjoyed Krylon as it has the vertical/horizontal tip, and the coverage is excellent and for the most part, even.

My roof and hood are black, i'll probably paint the trunk black just to match, so i wont need much cans of green. When i laid down a test area, i got some shine, more than i thought, then screwed it up by putting Ruso-crap clear coat over it, which fogged it up actually.

So, is it possible to wetsand away the orange peel left by a rattle can job? I went to an automotive paint supply shop and got some killer sand paper, 600, 800, 1000grits. I sanded the test are BEFORE i put the green, **** was super smooth, got a little orange peel but not too bad.

You cant see it in the pic, cuz it was taken with my phone, but here is an idea of the color.

check out my spoiler prototype thread on clubrsx, the prototype was painted/cleared with $.99 rustoleum paint, wetsanded with 2000 grit and polished with Meguirers scratchX 2.0. Then protected with with Meguirers wax.

use this technique and it will turn out amazing- BUT you need to make sure you wetsand all of the low spots out. Use a flat sanding block when wetsanding.

jesus christ that came out nice, and you used a flat base coat? since i have you here, im gonna ask these questions.

-Did you ONLY use 2000grit after the base coat dried?
-Did you use 2000grit on CLEAR coat as well?

I answered my own questions haha.

You let the base coat dry, then applied 3 or 4 layers of clear, lookin like an orange...then used 2000grit.......the scratch x 2.0, how did you use this to polish? did you apply it and then use a buffer or all by hand?

I've re-cleared my carbon fiber wing recetly, but its starting to turn hazy for some reason.

my only advice that i got on painting a hood, is maybe have another person helping you, ive heard that the trick to a good spraypaint job is making sure the panel drys evenly thus must be 100% wet and thats kinda hard by your self, i failed at doing so thus it was mega spotty. just my 2 cents

where did spray2020 go? I want to know how he did such a good job on that rattle can job????? I did same thing all the way up to wet sanding but I used Krylon Clear Coat and It never really dried on the plastic trim piece on the rear of my 91 Civic hatch??? rustoleum wont have same effect??? and I mean same exact thing...sprayed flat onto, then 2-3 clear & left to dry metal looked great but plastic trim kept getting stuff stuck to it 4 hella long? His spray job looked great!
