Default PPG paint

Well thish winter I am going to be painting my car, picking a color is such a PITA. A friend of mine works for an autoparts store that mixes pait and I gave him the paint code to get a quote on just base coat. I have been reading alot about how I should go with PPG Deltron and how it is the best instead of Shopline, (even though all the paint guys I talked to said to go with it), well I got the cost yesterday for just base PPG Shopline $230 a gallon and PPG Deltron $1000 a gallon.

My question is, will I notice a differrence in the paint job if I go with the cheaper Shopline?
The car is not and will not be a "show" car but I would like it to look nice.

Shopline will work just fine... Pay a body shop to wetsand it and buff it and you will be happy.

Shopline in a fine, mid-grade paint. If you're doing an all-over it's even less of an issue. Sometimes for blending jobs, high-end paint will match OEM paint better in gloss/texture/color. But if you are painting the entire car, it doesn't matter. What color are you going with? Also, if you wanna get some good primer/clear, may I recommend SPI? I do alot of research over at autobody101 and people RAVE about the universal clear and I hear the MS and Euro grades are pretty decent too. Their epoxy primer is excellent and the prices include shipping. Good stuff.

Keep in mind, if you are painting this yourself, temps need to be 60+ for the paint to properly cure.

painting it golden bronze pearl and will be painting the interior and engine bay myself and getting a friend to spray the body. I talked to a couple more paint shops and they also said that if i am doing a whole respray then go with Shopline base and use a good clear.

Next question is what clear to use?

I suggest SPI universal. You can talk to the owner of the company, his name is Barry. He'll answer any questions you might have.
