2010 MDX Unibody ? Frame Damage
Our 2010 MDX was involved in an ice accident that involved hitting a telephone pole at the passenger hood, then sliding until the pole stopped at passenger front door. Axle bent, door bent in about 6 inches, passenger window smashed. The repair shop does not use a computerized laser measurement system that I understand compares all components of the frame to manufacturers specs. Given the unibody frame, I am worried about passenger compartment safety in the event of another crash. Repair shop indicated they measure the frame and bend it back into allignment. I'm not even sure if there is frame damage given the unibody? How important is the laser measurement. Anything I should look out for. I would like to get it repaired properly of course by insurance. thanks

Re: 2010 MDX Unibody ? Frame Damage
There is still a frame like support in unibody, when they say frame is just universal talk. There are a few diffrent ways to measure, laser, sound waves, and using tool meant for measuring the "frame". I have used a few diffrent ways to pull and I still pull out the tram gauge and check measurments even with fancy computers. As long as the frame hasent shifted to much then yes you can pull it back to spec. I havent had problems pulling a car within 1mm, and would trust it on the road.
To get a car back on the road you have to get it within 3mm on a unibody and 5mm on body on frame vehicals.
