Default 2005 Civic rear quarter panel damage, thoughts?

First of all, I want to personally say **** YOU to all the low life thieves out there. I parked my car next to a commercial vehicle last night. It was stolen, and as the **** sucker was pulling out of the parking spot, the back portion of the van hit my car as you can see in the pictures.

What can be done? My buddy straightened out the quarter panel a little bit.. He said it can be fixed but it won't look 100% (hes an auto body tech) I found a very clean quarter panel at a local junkyard for $250, they will cut (same year, same paint color, i know color won't matter)

I need opinions first before moving forward about the quarter panel. A buddy of mine is going to try to take the dent out of the bumper, if unsuccessful I can easily buy another one, but my concern is the QP. What would YOU do?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

it could be fixed but i wouldn't choose to repair it. i've been a collision tech for about 9 yrs. that rip in the metal would most likely get longer as you work the metal out. plus welding it back up could end up being a problem if you aren't careful.

used or oe replaced gets my vote. im sorry to hear what happened

are you paying out of pocket or will this be an insurance claim?

if you are paying out of pocket and you want to save this car because you dont have money to buy another, then I would just say fair warning the costs to fix this car and have the repair area painted/blended into the rest of the car, could prove quite costly. maybe not so much in parts if you decide to find them used vs new but labor is where they will get you.

heres an idea of what would go into repairing this car:
-new/used qtr panel
-new/used tail light
-new/used rear bumper. (could be fixed of course but it'd probably be easier to source a new/used one)

labor costs
-cut old qtr panel off, align qtr panel, weld on a new/used qrt panel.
-replace tail light and bumper.
-doorhandle removal and replacement.(for paint)

Prep the repair areas for paint
-laying filler
-sanding/blocking out filler.
-prep the qtr panel, trunk, bumper, and door for paint
-seal the qtr panel
-paint the panels in question. (base & clearcoat)

this is just a rough estimate of what it will take if you fixed this car properly.
there is a chance that the inner structure could be damaged, and if that is the case, that is something to consider as well.

bodyshops always give free estimates. go out to a few of them and get an estimate. In my experience if you go to a reputable shop, they tend to give you a pretty close estimate compared to what the final cost will be.

doubtful insurance will cover it, paying out of pocket, and I'm not bringing it to a shop, a buddy of mine and I will be doing the work. He knows exactly what hes doing but I just want an idea of what to expect. I would never consider buying another car because of this damage. I'm pretty literate when it comes to cars and gettin **** done but I am not a body man. I had a new tail light an hour after I found the damage, bought new lights etc.
