Tokyo 2010: Toyota Supra IV Dressed Up as a 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor
There have been countless efforts to replicate the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor from the 2000 blockbuster movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" with Nicolas Cage. We've seen Eleanor replicas based on everything ranging from a Toyota MR2 to even -the most ridiculous of all- a Smart Fortwo.
At this year's edition of the Tokyo Auto Salon, the students from Saitama University's automotive course presented their take on the Eleanor Shelby GT500 using a fourth generation (1993-2002) Toyota Supra sports coupe as a base.
The replica, which is called "Moto Supra", maintains the Supra's six-cylinder powerhouse, though it's not clear if the students performed any upgrades on the sport coupe's hardware.

It doesn't even look well put-together. The hood appears to have huge gaps at the fenders, the headlights look just slapped on there, and the rear overhang is distgustingly long.

I think the problem is the base. The MKIV was not the right base. The final product looks kinda sloppy with panel gaps and generally too many bulky shapes. I think they would have been better off using an MKII (naturally square) or a 240 or something like that as a base for this kind of project.
On the other hand, if they had cut the fender wheels really big and dropped this thing on some bigger wheels the car would have come out looking like a real life toon car, and then maaaybe that would have been kinda cool.

I think a much better base for a car like that would have been new mustang.
Or.... you know... the original.
All in all, that thing just doesn't look right. A for effort i guess.
If you have to base it on something that isn't a mustang, how about a 1995 BMW M3, Euro Spec version (S50B32). Although, then i would be mad that they ruined an M3.

looks like a huge waste of time..wouldnt it been easier to get a mustang and put the 2jz motor in it?

countless efforts to replicate the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor but nothing beats the original..it still got the best Front Shock Absorber among all..
