Reasons why that won't happen:
1) You have to pay more to play. 1995 turbos are extremely rare (estimates are around 200 MR2 turbos were made available in the ENTIRE United States), 1994 turbos are slightly less rare, and 1993 turbos are probably the best concession but we're talking about:
1995 turbos - $13k-19k depending on condition
1994 turbos - $10k-$13.5k
1993 turbos - $6.5k-$10k
1992 turbos - $5k-$7.5k
1991 turbos - $3.5k-$7k
You can usually find a bargain after MUCH searching and negotiating, but the market is so small, the 1991 and 1992 turbos are usually beat to **** (nothing Honda boys aren't good at fixing up though), and the next mid engine rear wheel drive alternative is probably an Elise or older NSX
2) They're harder to drive. Since the engine is in the back along with the car being a rear wheel drive platform, oversteer was notorious in the earlier models prior to the suspension revision (1991 & 1992).
3) Like I said before, they're rare. An NA with a swap whether it's to a faster NA 4 cyl (BEAMS motor has VVTi, a NA motor with 200hp and 200ft/lb torque), a V6 from a Lexus or Camry, or a turbo motor tends to be the most viable option to get around that fact, but you don't see MR2s PERIOD every day.

Yeah, a Mk2 or an AP1 S2000, i've wanted both for a long time, S2K's are getting in my price range and I'm no longer afraid of working on an MR2(only reason I hadn't bought one before haha). Might as well own every trendy car in the import world haha . MR2's aren't trendy though, they didn't make enough of them and too many people complain about the cost of them. S13 240's are much more expensive, they're going for 12k BEAT as [freak], claiming they're capable drift cars. I'm finding all kinds of delicously clean tastefully modified MK2's on MR2OC and other forums for like 9k, that's dirt cheap for a modified turbo car thats as sexy as those are.
