My Mercedes Benz 190E
My name is chris and i'm a huge fan of 80's Mercedes.
This is my car a 1987 190E 2.3-16v (1 of 2000 made for the USA) on top of the car is a rare Evolution2 Bodykit one of 6 people in California with the bodykit on.
The car comes with a twin cam I4 16V made by Cosworth UK. The car came with hydraulic rear suspension, LSD, ram air box, 5 link rear end, race headers, oil cooler, gatag manual transmission (1st gear is down, 2nd is up and across), Recaro seats front and back.
Price in 1987 $43,000 not including the markup. Price in 2009 $4k to $5k
I bought the car that way from the last owner.
Yes i do not like the Yellow color and I'll paint it black and redo everything.
Yeah i know i have a big funny wing on the back. I took it off.
^Thats the real car sold in Germany
^My new toy rated at 200HP
^this how it will look someday
^heres a picture of the interior to give you an idea just minus the different color inserts.
^ my new set of recaro c-classic seats next to my prelude seats to show the size.
Someday they will look like this
My next project car someday down the line will be a black w126 and i'll covert it to look like this with an LS1
After that car will be the widebody w126 coupe red or black not sure

Re: My Mercedes Benz 190E
I plan on keeping the same wheels and running bigger tires.
The only problem i can see with the car is what can only happen with time and age. Parts get old and sensors stop working.
The biggest problem comes from lack of maintenance
Valve adjustment
timing chain
AC messes up.
The big problem is the Fuel injection system is a Mechanical Fuel injection run by vacuum. The car has a really high idle around 2k rpm some times. As for the tranny having issues. None.
Just time and age makes the car really sensitive.
It's worth every penny no matter how big the money pit

Re: My Mercedes Benz 190E
Although the current wheels do add to the originality of the vehicle, I do believe that a larger diameter and lower offset would add to the stance of the car along with a lower drop. I would even think of some classic AMG rims to slap on. I am a big fan of 80's european saloons and I was pretty shocked when I stumbled upon this on honda-tech. Once its all said and done this will look like a beautiful machine.

Re: My Mercedes Benz 190E
you listed three of my favorites MB from that era. Very, very nice although the yellow makes it seemed riced out from factory. I had a 94 C220 that got me in love with this 190...mainly because it was the only 5MT available. Your car is a nice example, just paint it black please
