Jetta TDI 2013
I currently have a 08 Accord v6, im looking into trading it in for the 2013 Jetta tdi due to gas mileage. My accord has 90k miles, owe $9k and averaging 28miles per gallon. The Jetta will be $23k and will be doing 45 miles per gallon. Considering these facts, would you trade or stick with the accord?
How are VW diesel in reliability, ive only owed 4 hondas, 1 bmw and 1 mitsubishi.

Re: Jetta TDI 2013
You want to stay away from 05-10 VW TDIs. They had soft cams, the repair is pricey. I understand the newer ones are better.
I have driven a TDI & I think that are nice cars. The down side is diesel is $.30 - $.50/gal higher on the west coast & west. So something to consider.

Re: Jetta TDI 2013
Ive been doing alot of reading on the tdi forums as well as talking to some friends with current model VW. Theyve mention to stay away from the auto tranny and as youve mention just be deligent in maintainance.
I need to get the automatic due to my wife will be using the car primarily. Diesel prices are only about 10-15cents dif compared to premium gas. Decisions decisions.

Automatics are fine if its 05+ (after the mk4). I have had dsg's in my last three for the wife and refuse to have anything less. The mk3/4 auto are likely to fail due to millage and age. Also people for get about tranny maintance.
