there are cages like that. are there less safe not sure, but I have seen people with it. Now 312ci motor? I ran a 306ci made close to 400whp n/a. listen you have a lot to learn and this isnt the place for you to learn it. Check out dssracing.com great crate motors. You dont have to s/c your motor. you could spray, turbo, keep it na depends how fast you going be.

I completely agree with MagnaniEg6, I've personally owned 3 Fox bodies, and I'll be the first to admit I love em. Your CI sounds completely off, I havenet seen a stroker for either, currently they run 302-306-331-347, and then if you proceed any larger you go 351W swap. I wouldn't even mess with a SC though, I had a real nice DSS Short Block 331, and NA it made close to 400 WHP, and on a backroad anymore would be completely useless. That cage is completely fine, most if not all Pro-Stock cars will use a similar door bar setup, and those cages have saved many a life, also Maximum Motorsports makes a very similar setup, and their basically the Spoon of the Fox body world, so good with me. Good Luck to yah man, and have some fun with it, most people love them, and I would paint it Black or that Ford Burgandy color.
