Re: Oregon Picture Thread, No BS talk
______________
Hi Cliff,
I built my car to compete in your FIS class and I am confused on the exhaust rule - what does "Open exhaust" mean?
Right now I daily drive my car with the exhaust coming out of the hood and I am being told that this isn't allowed in the FIS class, is this true? If so, shouldn't the rule read "Exhaust must exit out of the rear of the vehicle"?
Thanks,
Chris

As long as you are turboed, you're OK. Turbo is considered exhaust. There is no restriction on where it exits.

Interesting... I watched 2 cars last year get pulled out of FIS for having OPEN downpipes and Cliff was the one that did it... Take your chance but i watched it all happen last year..
2 cars went through tech with full exhaust and all, 1st qualifying pass they went down cliff was at the line and have them moved to FWD...

Open down pipe isn't allowed as it isn't exiting the car.. That's the issue they had. I will have the email printed out and in my glovebox incase they try to give me grief over it.

That's what I'm confused on also but the downpipe doesn't exit the car the event where I won that class I wasn't even trying to run that class but tech moved me into that class even knowing how my exhuast was coming out the hood...
