Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
Looking for someone that does minor exhaust work on the side for a reasonable price. Need a custom setup done that doesnt require many bends or welds but all the shops around here seem to want more then what ive paid in the past for a full catback setup. Im in the York, PA area and not looking to go more then an hour away.

Re: Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
Any custom exhaust is gonna be generally more than a catback. Companies that sell catbacks buy material in volume and have CNC benders which produce exhausts at a high rate to turn profit.
As a person who's fabricated more than most on this website, I can tell you that doing a custom exhaust is a hefty amount of work. Even if bends are minimal its hard to match the price of a catback and be paid. You can go to certain exhaust shops and get crush bent catbacks done cheap, but its crush bent junk.
You get what you pay for though. Maybe you find a guy that has a nack and is starting out willing to get paid less, or you drop your car off and find that the thing hangs next to the ground, hits your linkage and is garbage. The more likely scenario is the latter.
If your getting something one off that's quality then you should be wiling to pay what its worth. Generally I've done custom exhausts in 3" stainless for about 750.00 with materials and I've STRUGGLED to make my $/hr. My stuff is done right though and the customers were all very happy as the exhausts they had prior either dragged the ground or sat like sh*t.
Not trying to criticize what your after, just trying to give you perspective, as it seems those who don't fabricate often don't realize the amount of work involved. The key reasons why I build few of those manifolds anymore like in my avatar.
Good luck.

Re: Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
i could actually do it myself if i go the material but dont feel like working off the ground. I have this setup done on 2 cars in the past for under 200 bux. All it is dual coming out infront of each back tire. So it consist of a resonator with built in Y at the end to run each dual at a 90 to both sides if that help explain it better.

Re: Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
There's a fabricator listing in the welding forum.
Have you looked into a piping kit? I just got mandrel bent "weld up kit" from VRS. All you do is weld on the flanges and hangers, which are also supplied. I'm also adding a resonator, but still, it's minimal fabrication and probably can be done off the car if I do a good job on my mock-up and marking. Price shipped - resonator is under $200. I can splurge on v-bands for the cat and muffler, get ripped off on the fab work and still spend less than a more restrictive cat-back system.

Re: Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
the resonator that i plan on using has a V shaped box on the end that Y's out, so the flow is perfect. Sell for 85 bux at a local shop. They're are usually he cheapest around and have done full catbacks for under 200 bux but they wanted 250 for my setup which ive got done cheaper on 2 recent cars at another shop that is pretty busy or id go there again.

Re: Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
Well, I'll let some PA'ers chime in if they know someone, but for now, here's the link for those bends: http://www.vrsexhaust.com/BENDS/bends.html
I did look into a local shop with a mandrel bender that does mostly hot rod work and they couldn't touch these prices. I could see a shop charging a lot more than a place that just bends tubing all day.
Good luck!

Re: Looking For Custom Exhaust Fabricator
ok so heres the new setup, im sure most of you guys wont like ive always got to be different and have done it on two previous cars and got lots off attention and positive responses. Only thing that sux about this setup is thats its RIDICOUSLY too loud, doesnt sound any less quite then the open header. LOL So now im looking for small muffler like tips for each side to hopefully quite things down. I didnt put any tips on today bc i didnt like there prices plus i can always add them later. Now i might have to cut them back some if i want to get these ferrari muffler tips. Few pix so show ground clearance and nice job they did for under 200 bux!! =D
These pix are with the car jacked up in the rear
With the car on all four wheels
Ferrari mufflers/tips on ebay i might get
