Questions about aftermarket headlights
I recently purchased an aftermarket headlight for my '92 Civic. After a recent accident my driver's side headlight was busted (just the glass part) and I'm going to be replacing it with this aftermarket one. The quality of the housing and all is fine, it is identical to the OEM Stanleys that were on the car even down to the fluting of the glass.
The OEM Stanleys have a deflector/refractor/shield that covers the bulb and screws into the housing that can't be removed unless the headlight is baked and disassembled. Well, upon inspection of the new light, the screw holes for that piece are there, but it is not. Before I install, should I remove the glass and install the deflector/refractor/shield thing from my broken OEM light? I don't want to give off any unnecessary glare to other drivers.
I noticed a lot of aftermarket headlights don't even have these shields, and you can see the bulbs directly through the housings. Is this something that is necessary, or does it really even matter?
Thanks.
