Re: PIC request HID retro in a DA
ok... now that looks sexy!!! I also love DA's in white!!! That is exactly why im getting mine painted white!!! Now the HUGE question I have for you, and please answer me... this has bee urking the hell out of me!!!! HOW DID YOU SMOOTH OUT THE FLUTE ON YOUR HEADLIGHTS? I was reading you can do it with plastic headlights, but not glass... so can you do it with glass? and how? That was the one thing that was gonna stop me from retrofitting projector HID in my headlight... but if I can do it with the JDM one piece headlights... then damn it, im doing it!!!! please fill me in.... Thanks, John

i have started my retrofit on my JDM 1pc headlights but haven't bought everything yet.
as far as the fluted lenses, you can sand them, not sure what the owner of car in those pics did but couple people have done it.
i was also trying to find out other ways to get the lens "optically clear" but haven't found a good solution yet.
www.hidplanet.com is a good resource for retrofits if you're interested.

Re: PIC request HID retro in a DA
i wouldn't use a dremel, the wrong speed (too high) and it could potentially melt the lenses since they're plastic, the only way i see doing it via sanding is with some good ol' elbow grease lol.

Re: PIC request HID retro in a DA
well then we're singing a different tune now!!!!! sweet... I really thought they were glass.... but if they are plastic, then clearing the flute is gonna be a piece of cake!!!! Im glad you posted this Kuppa, cause I learned something new and useful today!!! plastic is easy to sand... I was stressing, thinking jdm 1 piece headlights were glass.... retrofit, here I come..... my question is... why do people do the retro fit with jdm headlights and not deflute the headlights? makes no sense IMO.... whatever though... thanks guys for clearing the fact for me.... good times

Stop quoting that whole string of pictures!!!!!!!!!!!
USDM 2G Integra and 5G Civics had glass headlight lenses. The JDM versions for the same years had plastic lenses, just to clear up any confusion.

Re: PIC request HID retro in a DA
This was my first one never done it before but im pretty good with stuf like this like fabrication. If i were you just start gathering parts up go and do some research. Check outy my build thread its pretty step by step on what i did and go to HIDplanet.com and retrofit source.com forums. I mean i could do it for you but it will cost some money i spent almost 5 hours a night working on this for a week so like 25 hours.
