Converting OEM D2R HID to Non-HID??
Long story short, my sister has a car [99 Acura TL] she can't afford to keep up. Her D2R Hid Bulb went out and talked to some mechanic who said he can convert them to a typical NonHID Halogen setup.. yeah I know it sounds backwards..but I wanted to look into it. SO i can save her some money and ..well potentially use the HID kit on my Integra retrofit..but lets not get side tracked. Basically I'm trying to find out if there are any NonHID bulbs that fit into D2R style Housings without too much modification. I've done quite a bit of searching and I remember a LONG time ago there was a chart that showed the specific size differences between every kind of Headlight bulb..but can no longer find that chart.

Its your sister. Headlamps are a safety item. Give her a set of fresh HID capsules as a gift.
But to answer the actual question, I know of no halogen bulb that will fit in a D2R projector.

Re: Converting OEM D2R HID to Non-HID??
I love my sis to death don't get me wrong..but she's not the brightest bulb on the bunch. The only person i know who would spend $1100 of her tax return money to get her car painted..but cant afford to replace the bulbs. And with me going to school, paying rent, and 4 birthdays and an anniversary coming up this month.. i dont have much money out of my own pocket to spare.

Re: Converting OEM D2R HID to Non-HID??
Just hop on ebay and get some cheapo d2r bulbs for now. When i bought my 02 tl-s the previous owner cut the wires going to myhid ballast and ran 9006 bulbs. For the first two weeks of having my tl i avoided driving at night cause you cant see anything at all. When i finally got some bulbs i noticed that the hids were all up in the trees, turns out when the put in the halegons they turned the headlight all the way up to get some light from the halegon bulbs. So just buys some bulbs and call it a day.

like its already been said...
shop around online. HIDplanet.com has (or atleast did in the past) brand new oe Phillips bulbs for like 70 or 80 a pair. Im sure acura wants probably 3x that. I wouldnt even rule out getting used ones from ebay. As long as they come as a pair with the same hours of usage on them she will be fine.
