Just from pictures that I've seen, and what I saw tonight the FXR kills the Mini d2S

Have you guys considered offering the Mini H1 as a substitute, instead of the Mini D2S?

most projectors have 4 mounting hole that u can use 2" machine screws nuts and washers to mount the projector into the headlight. most people mount with screws then jb weld the bowl of the projector into the OEM headlight housing

a carpenters level will help

starting with ebay headlight lenses is a good idea if ur OEM ones arent clear

stanley/koito produces the best optics. TRS doesnt even offer hella or mitsuba products. fxr headlight use mitsuba ballast from factory as do all nissan cars. toyota and honda use stanley. bmw and mercedes use hella. hella has the worse rep and isnt worth using (not offered) except the shrouds E46. Honda S2000 is considered the best single xenon and the Acura TL the best Bi-Xenon both of these are rare and expensive (and HUGE!)

good luck

I went back and forth on which ones to get, ended up doing the mini D2S for a couple of reasons. One is that I didn't want to get into a whole cut and fit custom job... Not because I can't, I just don't want to put that much work into THIS car while my project car continues to languish on jackstands with no end in sight. The other was that the D2S leaves me with a way better selection of OEM grade bulbs and ballasts to try later on if I'm not thrilled with the Morimoto stuff.

Personal preference stuff I guess, but you gotta choose your battles. Who knows, if I get this job I have to move to Cali... Car has to get sold in that case and none of it happens!

We also have the Mini H1's in stock (though we don't list them... maybe we should lol)
Because we use them for our eg retrofits, (Mini H1's barely fit in 92-95 housings)

Comparing the two side by side; the Mini D2S's feel and look a lot more heavy duty and I'm not a real big fan of how difficult it is to set up/mount the H1 bulbs into the projectors, the fitment is really tight and if anything isn't completely screwed in flush, the bulbs wont sit flat and it messes up the output bad.

Where as the Mini D2S's are a perfect fit and lock in every time.

From reading, it seems that the 3.0 are a huge step up from previous generations too. I don't really have any first hand experience though so that's all here say from the Internet.

They really are nice, we've been comparing them to a lot of other "3.0" size projectors from DDM or other generics, and still every time the Moto brand is the clear build-quality winner.

Sure some other ones might have a good cut off or similar performance, but you can just tell by the weight and sturdy-ness of them how much nicer they are.

Take a look the Lexus RX350. Price range is right around a TL, if you get the clear lense.
I was bouncing back and forth between the FXR, RX350 and TL. Went the FXR route mainly due to price, and the size. once/if I out grow the fXR's I will probably go with the RX350.

TRS's mini solenoid does help solve some of the size issues with the TL though.

Have you looked into a headlight coating? if you plan to replace them I would take a look at Optimum's product. Will help keep the new lights looking new.

I do like the ability to go down to a dealer and get OEM bulbs. I definitely see the not wanting to start making things fit, it's kind of a pain in the ***. lol

I don't think they will disappoint you. I have no experience with the D2S, but if they are even close to the output of the H1, you will love them.

Put a set of H1's in my friend's camry and we were impressed with them and the car currently has fluted lights. Can't wait to see what it looks like with clear lenses!

Stuff came up and I didn't get a chance to make it out to the garage tonight. I was really hoping to get them both in and working tonight and possibly aimed. (while's it's not raining to see the real/true whatever you want to call it output) Hopefully it stays dry and I get a chance tomorrow.

Ahh. How do they perform?

I've been driving the last 2 days with the driver side aimed REALLY low, and the passenger up in the tree's, and I am very impressed with these. granted I'm sure it's only the driver side lighting anything up, It's very nice. Wide, bright and would have great distance if it were properly aimed.

I love them bro....no comparison against those cheap HID lights. my buddy is rockin HID's in his civic. he was helping me with my car the other night and he was so impressed with the output of the retro's

I was sold when I first got a set for my Tacoma. All my vehicles will now have a retro-fit done!

ok. I managed to save a few pictures, and get some new ones. I'll try to post them tonight, but most likely tomorrow. you guys have to promise not to laugh. lol

I'm having some aiming issues. The driver side is a hair low, but for some reason I can't get it go any higher. ( has lots of room to go)
The passenger side is the opposite. it's too high, and I screwed up with it. It's all the way down.

I will most likely end up scraping these and taking my ebay lights apart to get the reflectors out and try again.

I will say this, these projectors are very impressive. output is great, beam pattern is great, and the cut off is pretty colorful. The high beams are VERY usable. The pattern gets wider, and throws light a lot further.

Sorry, got busy. But as promised, the pictures.
The back, tried to keep it as stock looking as possible:

Front:

In the car:

Output, please bear with me. this is first retro, so i expected to have some issues and I did. I will be correcting them with the other set of headlights I have when I get time. My phones camera does no justice. the output is much better in person. I will try to get some high quality shots soon.

Wall shots. Like I said, I had some issues aiming them.

The driver side for some reason will not come up at all, and the passenger is all the way down. :/

this one is kind of fuzzy. The camera wont focus for **** that close to the light.

The cutoff is a LOT more colorful in person. I was worried about not having enough color, but I am pretty impressed.

Thank you! for my first time doing it, I am very happy with the results. They horizontal isn't perfect, but it's not bad enough for me to care.

The vertical though, I don't like that. I feel like the output could be even better if I could get the passenger down! the more I drive around I might not raise the driver side up much, it's so close to the perfect height!

I didn't post for a while just so I could get a feel for how they were, I love them! A few people at my work were so impressed they may buy the same kit!

I have

I originally didn't use JB kwik which killed me. The stuff I used took a long time to cure... With the driver side I was mistaken and thought it was cured and moved the light a little hard, well, enough for the projector to shift without me seeing it.

Luckily I have another set of headlights I can rip apart and start fresh.
