10000K HID Legal in Illinois??
I live in Illinois and just purchased 10000k deep blue hid and I was wondering if I would get a ticket for it or warnings?? I got pulled over before when tints in the front were illegal in illinois, but I have 20% all around and the legal limit is now 35% all around I also have no front plates and neer got pulled over for any of those after the tint law change October 30th 2009. If anyone is familiar with Illinois I do alot of driving in Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Buffalo Grove, Mundelein, and Lake Zurich (BG and Mundelein cops are the worst to deal with... but i got pulled over by Vernon Hills cops in June for my front tints so I need to know if my lights will be fine..

Illinois does not have secondary offenses so you can get pulled over for what ever the cop wants to bust you on

They are illegal, and stupid for that matter. It is as simple as that. It is impossible to say whether you will get pulled over for it or not. I wish cops would crack down on illegal lights more than they do.

HIDs are illegal no matter what they are unless the car came factory with them. The fact you have some ricer deep blue that will actually decrease your light output over stock halogen bulbs makes it worse and a cop magnet.

To answer your question, they are illegal because they didn't come stock with your car. I used to work by Hawthorn Mall and and out in the area back in the day and I know how the cops are. They are bored and try to make their ticket quotas on suburb type stuff.
You might be able to get away with it because its a TL. I seem to notice my "nicer" cars not getting pulled over for petty stuff like tints, front plate, or HID's

If you have to ask, they probably are... and yes, they are illegal and dumb as hell. They look like *** hole and I point and laugh (and usually blind with quad bi-xenon high beams) at anyone I see on the road using them.

To Jinya1004: I got pulled over for illegal front tints when you could not have tints in the front, i have never been pulled over for no front plates or 20% tints after they made it legal 35% all around, one of my friends has a Mercedes E63 AMG no front plates, 5% limo tints all around, and 8000K HID never has he been pulled over or gotten a warning. I know in colorado illegal headlights, tints, and no front plates are secondary offenses which means u can only get a ticket for them if you speed or something.
