Really stupid clutch question

Really stupid clutch question
i recently took bought a xtd(ebay) stage 2 clutch from a guy that's supposedly for the rsx type s. i'm weary if it is a type s clutch kit however. it bolted on just fine without problems but my really dumb question is this. how can i be SURE this is a type s clutch? on ebay there are some links that show xtd stage 2 clutches specifically for base models and other links that show specifically for type s but then OTHER links that say the clutch kit fits both base and type s models. like i said the clutch kit bolted on just fine just deathly worried my car will blow up while i'm in it. the pic is of the literal clutch the dude sold me. looks like pics advertised on ebay as type s but also looks like the clutches advertised as base. xD i'm sure stupider questions have been asked so **** off.

Re: Really stupid clutch question
According to XTD's website they do not differentiate between base model and Type S. Looking at Acura part numbers between the two models they are different. At the same time I have never heard of there product and am almost certain there are better brands available like Exedy or Competition Clutch available.
OEM Acura RSX 2002 CLUTCH (TYPE-S) parts
OEM Acura RSX 2002 CLUTCH - TORQUE CONVERTER parts
2002-2006 RSX STAGE 2 CLUTCH - XTD Clutch
OEM Acura RSX 2002 CLUTCH (TYPE-S) parts
OEM Acura RSX 2002 CLUTCH - TORQUE CONVERTER parts
2002-2006 RSX STAGE 2 CLUTCH - XTD Clutch

Re: Really stupid clutch question
The pressure plates are flywheel dependant. Type s to type s and base to base.
If you're running a stock flywheel and the pressure plate bolted right up, I'd be fairly confident it's for a type s, that is assuming you have a type s flywheel.

Re: Really stupid clutch question
Sounds like we have a solution to your question but heres my 2 cents:
Check the part numbers to see if they are different on the OEM clutch kits? Here's a link to a good OEM parts catalog:
Majestic Honda | New Honda dealership in Lincoln, RI 02865
I wouldn't think that they would be different, the base and type-s don't make drastically different power numbers so there isn't much reason to make a whole different part aside from maybe pedal feel? If you are ok with being without the car for awhile, tear it apart and try to install it, if it bolts on and the trans goes in your on like a 99.9% chance it'll work.

I don't think it's stupid for you to question things at all. It's ok to trust but ALWAYS verify.
I purchased and XTD clutch, 4 puck un-sprung for my K20. Brand new Type R trans in the car. The clutch (at a glance) all looked right and lined up.
After installation i found that the disc was actually slightly oversized (width).
Just enough to start rubbing the structural points of the pressure plate. Found this out the hard way when the clutch intermittently engaged.
I have had many XTD clutches in the past with no problems, but their was apparently some manufacturing tolerance issues with this one. Luckily I caught it in time before it let go, so no collateral damage.
Lesson learned - trust but verify. People make parts - people are human and make mistakes. It happens.
