K series engine in rwd
Starting a build of a rear wheel drive tube frame car and want to use a k-series engine. Instead of mounting the engine in the east-west fwd position we are mounting it in the north-south way with rear wheel drive-
The question is will a s2k or miata gearbox work - with or without an adapter plate????? Has this been done

Well inline pro has a kit to mate a k series transmission to a s2000 motor to make it front wheel drive so I would assume you could do that in reverse as well or just go with an s2000 motor to start with.

Mid engine? Front engine? Rear Engine?
If I remember correctly, I remember seeing some type of Prototype series car with a FR K series engine.
I can get you a wiring kit if you need one.

Possibly looking at an Ariel Atom will give a good idea of a starting place. I believe they have decided to keep the east / west with the rear engine, rwd setup. The Ariel Atom uses to different versions of the K20. Top Gear has a good episode that goes over the entire car. http://www.arielatom.com/

The Norma M20 uses a K20 with a Sadev SL75 sequential box.
Also, a guy in this post used a Toyota 4AG rwd transmission on his K20 powered Super7 knockoff.

If you're doing a front engined RWD, You could use a K-series to 'Ford' fitting adapter bellhousing, this will give you a huge range of gearboxes to choose from. We use a Sellholm 5-speed sequential in our RWD K24 powered project car. www.dmrr.net/projectmk2.htm
