Default K Series Cam Degree

I was wondering what you guys do to keep VTC and still degree your cams. I got a few ideas but most of them involve taking the VTC gear apart. Is there a way to figure out the VTC degrees and make marks?
Also, how do you guys limit your VTC? Do you do it electronically, or maybe a machined stop? Perhaps machine a TSX 25* VTC gear bigger?
The cams I'm going to run are Drag Cartel 4.5's. I was told that they tend to make the most power around 30-35* VTC.
Thanks for the help guys!!

cant help you on the first part, but blueprint makes a mechaincal stop for the vtc gear. it's on their facebook page somewhere.

There are some threads about this on k20a.org (check the stickies).

I think the normal thing to do is just to find out how much cam advance you can run (without clearance issues), and then figure out on the dyno what the VTC should be set at. After all it can be changed with just the push of a few buttons on the computer.

This is sort of the whole point of having vtc. You can have different VTC angles for different loads and RPMs.

The exhaust cam you can degree just like you would on a b-series.

before you can do that you have to determine just how much you can advance, this is where degreeing the cams comes into play.

Would you trust the computer to do that for you?
What if it decides to go to a higher than desired VTC setting? Wouldn't that grenade your motor?
Doesn't kpro do a diagnostic check at first start-up? Something about going to 50* VTC and then back to 0* to make sure it's working ok?

I will go to the other website and check the stickies.
Thanks.

You will want to mechanically limit the VTC if you don't have clearance, or machine a TSX gear for extra room.

blueprint racing have a little stopper that you can install in your vtc gear.

Your right the ecu will do a vtc cleaning check sometime...But from my dataloog it only do that when out of vtec and with little to no throttle.
