Default GSR or b16a1 head????????????

Yo. Since the GSr motor went in 2 weeks ago in my civic ive had no complaints....except the GSR intake manifold. Its ugly, it cramps the engine bay, sits too low, plus ive heard that a b16a1 intake manifold outflows the GSR. Well, ive been thinking about geting a b16a1 head/IM and finally the opportunity has come up. Turns out my head gasket leaks oil, so while im tearing the head off i might as well swap a b16 one on. A local shop has agreed to trade me a b16a1 head for the GSR. (no cam trade) Im thinkin this is perfect. true/false: b16 heads flow better and yield higher c/r? true/false: b16 IM's flow better? Everything should bolt right in correct? PLus this will also be a good time to install my ITR valve springs and cams. Is there anyway to cahnge those springs without a press? Like a hand tool i can use? thanx.

i would rather just do a skunk manifold with b18c1 head

you'll loose compression if you go with a b16 head.
someone did a flow test on the gsr head vs b16 head in the forced induction forum. i believe hte gsr head outflowed the b16 head on the intake but b16 out flowed on exhaust.

if you just do a straight up swap you'll loose power due to loss of compression.

The b16 head loses compression. Therefore, go with a thinner head gasket while your at it, as well swap to a skunk2 manifold. Then use your ITR stuff in the head. This should be good for you. Goodluck.

From what i know the gsr heads flow better than a b16a head.If i was you i would just buy a skunk2 manifold and use your itr cams and your set.Your head is worth alot more than a b16a head, depending on the year of the b16a.Most likely it would be a first gen b16a.
