Wix Air Filters For S2K!!!

Re: Wix Air Filters For S2K!!!
so despite the fighting i just thought of a real cool diy idea if anyone wants to try. i got the idea from cleaning my vacuum cleaner out.
the filter in my vacuum was pretty much made of very similar materials as our honda air filter...it was conical in shape too. basically a mini cone air filter.
Anyhow, the point is, it had a foam layer wrapped around the conical filter. the cleaning instructions were simply, take the foam layer off and rinse, let dry. with the amount of dust found on the foam filter, i was surprised how little passed through to the actual cone filter. foam ftw! now, a custom foam filter layed over our standard filter would offer the best filtration but airflow would certainly decrease imo. i donno, food for thought!

Dont do it!!! for ***** a giggles i tore one up and its as cheap as frams. all paper thin with less fins then the OEM. What does that mean??? less filtration and higher probability of functioning right.

i've been using Wix filters for several years on several vehicles... and when i change the oil, they're not nearly as dark as with other filters.

just buy the k&n oem replacement. it's a huge cone just like the oem one, and if you ever decide to home-make a cold air, you can use it on that as well, which is what i did and works great.

Re: Wix Air Filters For S2K!!!
i meant the oil is not as dark as with other filters... which means the filter IS doing something. a friend of mine has done oil filter analysis at his shop a while back - results from wix were consistently above most other brands. if you don't want to use certain products because they're not oem, that's fine. i just find it stupid when people make up **** about a product that they don't know about.
though, this thread is about air filters.. and i'll have to admit, i've never used anything but oem air filters (and that's only because i order those when i order my fluids from hardtopguy).

Re: Wix Air Filters For S2K!!!
good site, lots of good info. Wix is a good brand, I put their oil filters on my b18, however for the S, it's OEM. Air filters are a slightly different issue, any increase in flow is derived from a decrease in filtration. I don't know what, if any, claims are made about increased performance or filtration with Wix, but you can't have both. I say stick with OEM unless you do an intake, but I don't like oiled filters.

Nobody here has any scientific proof to back up their claims. Unless you have your oil sent off after every change to blackstone for example using different filters, it's all just hearsay.

I'm sure you're the same guy who buys the OEM (Fram) oil filters also, which are known to be one of the worst on the market.

Re: Wix Air Filters For S2K!!!
you do realize i said i only run OEM right? and the OEM filters arent made by Fram there guy.. and im the idiot who uses Fram? do you know how to read? and ive been in the automotive industry for almost a decade and ive gone to a lot of sponsered events...wix is garbage, period...ive seen it....so before you call someone names, you might want to know a little background first, but quite frankly, i could give a **** less what you or anyone else thinks...opinions are like ********, everyone's got one and 95% of them are full of ****
