What simple mods can I add for $300 to compete with friend's new Z?
Its a friendly drag race for fun. Im up against an '07 350Z with the new 306hp motor.
He is breaking in the motor and in the meantime I'll save one weekend of going out and drinking to buy bolt ons and give him a little competition.
Guidelines are
- $200-$300 budget (the 1 weekend of drinking)
- Nothing that takes more than an hour to bolt on/off.
Yeah my car is a stock AP2.
Suggestions?

Nothing fits your criteria. Better off just learning to drive better.

$300 in add ons to an S2000? This is an S2000, buddy, not a 1982 Honda Civic.
For $300 you can get a knock off spoon air duct. And gain about .9whp. That should put you well over the 350Z.
I4 < I6.
Theres no replacement for displacement.
You may as well quit drinking all together and save up for an S/C or Turbo setup if you want to run with 350Zs.

350Z doesn't have an I6.

First, stop drinking so much on the weekends. That would mean at the minimum you are spending $10,400 on alcohol per year. Which is but anyway...
You can't buy **** for $300 for an S2000. Race your friend who is still breaking in his car, and then laugh months/years down the road when it breaks down @ 30,000 miles or whatever for redlining it when it was still being broken in.

Some of you guys aren't that resourceful.
After reading different publications, I thought there wasn't more than a .1 or .2 sec difference in a full quarter mile between an S and a Z.
I had in mind a test pipe, drop in K&N, full synthetic oil change, lower tire pressure, spare tire delete, tranny fluid change and also (thanks S@ntos) practice.

Thats what I thought. He might also take his gf along, I can also take the jump and I might "forget" to tell him to disable the traction control.
