What should I watch out for when buying a S2000 ?
My budget is 15000 flat. I could find like 15 around my are for 10-15K and none of them are salvaged. What should I watch out for and look for if its potentially a serious problem. I would also like to know I need a lower stance on the car and would not like to waste an arm and a leg on coilovers and would like to know what you guys recommend.

watch out for hermaphrodite midgets w/ hooked hands and mohawks that smell like onions
really, go test drive the car. ask for record history, and run a carfax to see the number of owners. even take it to a mechanic if you're skeptical. check the rear tires compared to the front, and try to find one that isn't modded.
i have full coilovers, but many people favor tein or espiler springs...tein give you less of a drop, but a more functional stance

when test driving the car, make sure it is moving smoothly. the differentials in these cars is weak, and the cv joints go bad sometimes, so make sure there is no vibrations or winding noises. also, check to make sure it isn't popping out of any gears, and make sure it goes into them smoothly, including reverse. that is the only thing i would really worry about, and ofcourse the motor running smoothly.
how big of a drop do you want? also if you drop i would do axle spacers, just to make sure those axles dont [freak] up.
p.s. if my input makes no sense then please delete it mods

If you install lowering springs, realize after 20-35k miles you will need new shocks. Mine went ~30k and the ride got pretty shitty. Stick with stock suspension or go for a full spring and shock replacement. I have the Zeal B6's now and could not be happier. I had the tein flex's on there for a little while and was not happy with their performance.

look out for the crazy midget living in the secret compartment. I forgot to take him out when i got my car and acouple days into driving it the bitch jumped out and scared the **** out of me.
all retartedness aside just look for the usual things you would look for on any used car. Check for leaks, look under the hood, check the oil to see if it isnt low/black as hell. One of the biggest things to inspect is the top examine it carefully for rips or tears the **** likes to develope rips at around 70k depending on where the car was kept and how often was the top put down.
As for the lower ride hight i would recomend espelir asd springs I have them and they rock they drop the car 1.5" looks really clean even with my stock 16's. I put them on at 69k im at 92k now and the shocks are still good alothough i am planing on switching to koni yellows as soon as i get some money.

Re: (24boosted)
Try to get a 02' and up. 03' if you're lucky.
Beware of things that lurk in the secret compartment (midget included as black mentioned). Pretty much most of the posters above me has you covered. If you don't mind worn driver seats, you should be good.

The S2000 is not the car for you. You want it for ALL the wrong reasons.

After seeing your poll choices in that thread.
Please go for a CTS. You clearly stated you want an Auto.

is it true that all fenders should have the stock VIN stickers on them for S2k? If so, check those to see if they have been previously replace.

as opposed to aftermarket VIN #'s?
yes, you can pop the hood and should easily see 3 vin #'s.

I agree. You would think that S2k owners here on HT.com are mature.
A lot of douchegoobers hang out in the forum.
