They filed a continuance because the morning of the court date the lawyer found out that the judge presiding was an alternate judge...and "an alternate judge is known to not make any wild ruling on a controversial case because they don't want the judge that they are subbing for to get irritated with them for making a ruling under their name" apparently.

Can't wait to find out the results.
Virginia Police suck in general. When I got hit and my S was totaled they didn't mark all the damage to the car in the report, listed the other driver named David as a female, and they never put anyone at fault even though it was very obvious.
Also they pick out young drivers just to harass them. When I was in highschool they pulled me over 17 times without giving me a ticket. The only reason they could ever give me a ticket was for going 3-5mph over the limit. I even had one cop pull me over out of his jurisdiction and when I asked him he didn't have a valid response, so I rolled up the window and left.
Sorry for the rant, but VA cops are idiots.

uh... all cops in EVERY STATE have jurisdictions.

I know what you mean. Cops in VA though, can pull you over out of their jurisdiction if you are within a mile of their's, if the offense took place in their's but you have since left, and I think there is a third way for them to.
I got pulled, literally, 50times in the two years I was in HS here. I get obviously, painfully obviously, followed routinely. I get followed by campus police, city police, county police, and even State Troopers. They all have jurisdiction in my town, because it is a city, country and etc.... VA is weird how that works. I got pulled over around 15:00 for illegal headlights, I called out the cop and he got mad and threw my license at me, I got pulled over for tint and illegal exhaust and told the cop it was bullshit (you can't pull over for that, you can only add it on if you pull someone over for something else)and best of all........... One night my friend called me at 23:15 asking if I could drive a friend home because he was pulled over, he had 3 passengers when he was only allowed 1, I told him I would. One passenger's car was across the street, and the other would ride with him. When I get there the cop tells me I'm breaking curfew at around 23:30, when curfew is midnight, he tells me he will have to have my parents pick me up, when my dad was in Afghanistan and my mom was in NY. I told him where they were and he told me he had no choice but to impound my car and release me to child services. I told him that wasn't happening, he said too bad. Would NOT let me call either my mom or anyone else. I sat for hours before my first friend's mom came and picked him up, she offered to take me home, but the officer refused. The second mom came, again offered to take me home, and again he refused. I told the cop he had no ******* right to hold me and that it was bullshit.... next thing I know I'm in handcuffs in the back of his cop car at 03:00 still waiting for the third guy's parents to be notified so he could walk across the street and get into his car while the officer shot the **** with an officer from somewhere else. Then the cops from the base where I lived came and picked me up around 04:00. What a douche bag...

Lucky for me, I definately didn't know he could pull me over 2 miles outside his jurisdiction but I was well beyond that mark. Just that no police in my jurisdiction anywhere close to where I live so I guess he just gave it a shot.
Should of just gotten your friend in the car when it was 11:30 and left. If curfew was midnight he wouldn't be able to hold you as he didn't pull you over. If he tried you just say "My Uncle is a Judge and he will have you kicked off the force for illegally restraining a citizen."

I didn't get a call today, last time it took them a few days to just let me know that the date was extended to this date. They need to get back at the end of the day and file everything. Perhaps tomorrow?
