Default stock part question

I am looking into buying another S2000, this one I looked at looked real clean, the only thing that I noticed and will bug me is near the passenger window on that long black strip touching the window sill and the glass lookes like its splattered with white/silver marks, I was wondering if that would be an easy part to purchase and replace through Honda manufacturer? or would that be too much of a hassle? thanks for any help

I'm not entirely sure what part you are talking about. I will tell you that you cannot replace just part of the soft top, the entire thing needs to be replaced. The soft top alone from the dealer is like 1500. You can get a Robbins tops for about 600 I think. Install is a PITA and expect any shop to charge you up to 8hrs worth of labor.

if it's got silver flecks on it, that could suggest a poor re-spray...

there is some black plastic trim restorer that actually contains a black stain, that works a charm too (and probably a lot cheaper).

so you think that could somewhat be touched up instead of needing to try and replace?

i had a similar thing on a previous car, went to get it replaced and the guy there dug out this kinda gloopy black trim restorer and all my problems were solved (overspray, some big scrapes etc.). Not sure where you would find it, but it was well worth it - i was impressed. Probably worth a shot first as i don't imagine it would cost much.
Oh, and wear gloves - that stuff sticks and stains.
