There is a big big difference from taking a car to redline when you're test driving the car from a dealer, and when your redlining a car that you're "supposed" to be parking.

Anything can happen at any given time. If you're test driving the car from a dealer, and all the sudden you get into an accident or you miss shift and the engine goes boom, who cares, the dealer has to deal with it. (no one at the dealership has a "bond" with the car).

Now if you're supposed to be parking my car or any other owners car becuase you're a vallet person or you're a mechanic after finishing the work and you go out and rev the car up and you get into an accident or blow the motor or whatever. It's my *** that's going to have to deal with all the crap that revolves around getting you (the vallet or mechanic/dealership/shop) to pay for the damages. Not to mention the down time for the repairs that need to be made and so on.

And yes you might be the best driver in the world, and never gotten into an accident or missed a shift or whatever, but that doesn't stop the local soccer mom from pulling out in front of you during your little 9k joy ride.

I agree totally, your a valet parker, not a damn reviewer for Road and Track magazine. I would be pissed as **** if a valet drove my car like, and I would hope he would not be working there anymore if I caught it happening, but I would never valet park my car for that reason.

first of all i in no way, shape, or form condone ur idiotic behavior in someone else's s2k. ok now on with my input.

i gotta chime in on this cause i used to valet back in college (only a few yrs ago) and some of the kids do beat on the cars, but i never did cause im not an *******. if your worried about your car, self park it. you dont have to valet. almost every place has a area designated for self parkers. also it depends on the place you go to. if it is a nice restaurant, the valets are usually not ****** and will not abuse your car. however if u go to a catering hall for a party, the valets are usually newer, paid less in tips and dont care about your car.

i speak from experience. i worked at catering halls where the kids used to drive some cars like ******** (popping clutches, pealing out, etc) and i worked at a restaurant where the average price of a meal for 2 was over $300. at this place we got nicer cars (exotics and luxary cars) and took care of them cause the owners took care of us plus if anything happened to these cars, ur screwed.

its simple, if u dont trust valets, dont park with them. or give the guy a tip up front and tell him to keep it close. u really have no idea what the valet is going to do with ur car, so if ur worried, dont valet.

i personally dont like to valet because i know what goes on there. even with my old integra, i didnt like to valet. id only valet my s2k at nice, expensive places and tell him to keep it up front and give $10 or $20 to the valet.

There are a couple spots, mainly near the beach, that are valet only.

"valet mode" on car alarms? I dunno if this was an actual alarm or a custom one. I had a friend who used to work valet. He said an S2000 pulled up at the club one night and before leaving, the car the owner pressed his alarm remote and gave a distinct chirp while the car was still running. My friend jumps in and the car it would not rev pass 2500rpm no matter how much the gas pedal was down.

Sounds like a bunch of women crying at a ***** party. Its just a car. For some reason some S2k owners think that they are so much better than the rest of the Honda community and in some cases better than everyone else too. A great example of that is the circus called s2ki.com. I can only imagine what NSX owners are like. The fact of the matter is that an S2000 really isnt all that to begin with. The car is torqueless below 5000rpm and even then, it does what in the quarter mile? You guys make it seem like he did something that is forbidden. The car revs that far for a reason. If he stuffed it in the wrong gear while downshifting, damaged it, and then tried to deny it when the owner picked up the car. That would be a completely different story. The shocking truth of the matter. If you bought one used, someone probably did the same thing to yours. If you bought one new, the same probably happened during the P.D.I. or at some point before you got it. Some dealers (I know this for a fact) even fill the tank with 87 octane. I dont mean to offend, but if I do I wont lose a wink of sleep over it.

He's taking advantage of a car that isn't his. His job as a valet is to well, park cars. Not to race them through the parking lot hoping he doesn't hit anything.

I drive a stock Civic and I'd be upset if I saw a valet do that to my car too. I don't think it has anything to do with the owner of the car has an S2000 as much as the owner of the car is the owner of the car. It's his property and of course he doesn't want some kid going out and breaking something or tempting to break something by ragging on it.

I understand that. It seems like everybody is trying to make it seem like they have never done anything as immature, as him. He's 18, I'm not saying his age makes it ok but I'm sure we all know someone older than him who has done worse

It doesn't make it okay for anyone of any age. You are right though, it shows immaturity and disregard for the property of others.

And yes, I'm sure a lot of us have done stupid things in the past, even with our cars. One BIG difference though... it was with our cars.

I'm with Immortal and the rest of you alike. It's definitely a respect issue, doesn't matter what kind of car it is. Sure, everybody has an idea of what valet guys do, but this guy is stupid enough to come out on a forum and say it.

i must say i would be pretty pissed if someone did that in my s2k but thats why i wouldnt use valet parking....and i wouldnt bring my car to a shop unless i absolutely have to (im cheap and i try to fix everything myself)

although i will say that i redline my car at 9k through every gear...but it is also my car. i had the car for a week before i ended up having to replace the clutch actually.

we can all be upset about this but i dont see any point. some of us would do the same thing if we couldnt afford one (even though most of us that have one are in debt from it haha) but i work hard for it. truth is that its an extrmely immature thing to do (coming from a 17 year old)

i think this is just a lesson to trust no one behind the wheel of our treasures except us

He's supposed to be parking the car. If he can drive like an idiot in an s2000, what will make him not drive like an idiot if someone pulled up in a Ferrari. Absolutely nothing will stop him and he'll take that Ferrari for a joy ride just like he took the S.

Unless the owner of the car is in the car with you and tells you to beat the hell out of it, respect it regardless if it's a Geo Metro, an S2000, or a Ferrari.

I drive a Q45 and a CRX but I never said I was better than any of you. I said SOME S2k owners think they are better.... I take it from your hostility that you are one of them. This validates my statement. Your attitude is whats wrong with this thread. He starts a post as an apology and you continue with your childish comments. Is thats the best thing you could think of after reading this thread, or did you just see something you didnt like and fire off?
