Excuse the crappy pics:

I'm thinking about getting rid of that and getting a Tacoma for winter/moving crap, and the S2000 to still have something fun to drive. I'm just really torn.
The S2k isn't really comparable to a STi in winter but a good set of winter tires i.e. Name Brand or even something studded. I've driven my friends S for a month in winter we traded cars when he was out of town, it's more than capable to be a winter car and i'm not talking 2-3" of snow around here there is alot of snow much more than NY.

yeah...but in the dry weather, the S2000 beats up on the STi in every contest of speed except straight line racing.

i love my s2000, but i just got rid of my wrx and my dad has an STi with a T-back exhaust and a Cobb accessport...and there is no way an S2000 has a chance vs. the STi. personally the honda kills the STi in styling and just fun driving...but on a track and speed i would have to say the STi would win.

But to answer the question...if you will have a Tacoma as well...how could you pass up on an S2000... i still get a chubby everytime i go outside to check on mine...

If u don't have another car as a dd I'd reconsider. S2ks are bad in the snow and the rain isn't that much better. I guess tires really have a big part in that also. If it's the first rwd car you've driven you have to really drive it carefully until you really get a feel for it then you can take the turns and drive it the way you want. I have a Volvo s60r as a dd so the winter really isn't a problem but dd a s2k is a pain did it for a couple of months and the lack of space sucks. U can fit a big backpack and your lunch in the back of ur car and that's basically it. When I bought my 32 inch LCD tv I had to drive with the box resting on my head and shoulder withthe top down. If space is an issue don't get one. Don't get me wrong I love my s2k and would get another one after selling the one I have now, but it really is a weekend/nice day car and wouldn't recomend driving it as a dd.

I said the sti would win in straight line speed. But I'm sure you've never driven either on a track. Please explain why a sti would be an issue for a s2000 around most tracks. Stock to stock since modded cars are difficult to compare. Although I know that a mildly modded sti would be no problem for my mildly modded S2000 either.

Thanks for the input guys. As I said before I'd have a Tacoma as well, so the S2000 would see nothing more than the inside of my garage during incliment weather.

I absolutley love driving my STI in all conditions, everytime I get into the car I find my self smiling. I've never driven an S2k, so I think before I do anything crazy I'll go and test drive one to see if it suits my driving style or not.

if your going to give stupid input don't give any at all. Don't just say Do it! and say get one just because you like them or own one. Give the guy some input and stop being so damn lazy.

s2ks arent meant to be driven everyday especially in NY, but if you have a tacoma i'd say go for it. you'll love the car and if you don't just try to find one that's cheap and you could always resell it within a year for the same price that you bought it for. I'd say go to a dealer and ask if you can test drive it and take it to a mechanic to get it checked out. Drive it and try to feel the handling of the S. It really depends on what type of tire you have on the car too. I've noticed the car handles really differently depending on what tires you have on it(obviously). Tires on the S are like night and day. Tires on the S are more noticeable than any other car i've driven.

My friend drives his AP1 eeeeverry day. He was just out tonight in the ice storm we had here with all season tires. It's his only car. You can definately drive a S2000 every day just fine.

As far as grocery shopping for myself, I've never run out of room....even if we had a bbq or something at my house.

I've gone on mini road trips with the GF with my S2000 with the trunk loaded up. I've put a bunch of sports equipment in it to get my jock on. I've taken chairs/coolers in it to track events. The trunk is pretty spacious to tell the truth.

Is it a ideal car for daily duty? No. But it's a very vey fun car that you shouldn't shy away from if your ONLY gripe is that you can't drive it every day.

I guess if the S2000 was my only car, it really wouldn't work out that well for me...but It'd still be ok. It would be annoying to not be able to haul around wheels/tires since I do have to change those around often. It would also be annoying not to be able to take other people anywhere...but then again, you can save on gas by having some other sucker drive .

Luckily, I have a EM1 for daily duty. So I have fun no matter what I'm driving.

My use my EM1 like my truck. I tow with it, I haul stuff around with it, I do muddy burnouts in peoples lawns with it so it looks tough, I drive it through snow even if it's a foot high and I'm plowing streets for free with it, etc. etc. etc.

So what I'm saying is that I wouldn't WANT to have the S2000 as my only car because I do need my civic for stuff. But I could definately do it. If I could only get one car, I would still get the S2000 and just manage the other stuff somehow.

I'd probably end up with a beat up beater anyway for "just in case" situations. Snow tires for the S2K are like $500-700. There's TONS of disposable beaters on craigslist for that much money.

Sorry bra, I use to drive in the winter but why do that when I can own two cars also considering the fact that the S2000 is in the shop for about 3 months... but this is a daily!

Let me tell you I had a 2007 C230 Mercedes Benz Sport Package Auto Black on Black only 36k miles. I traded it in for a Honda s2000, I love this car to death!I mean it is not as spacious as the mercedes but it is so much more fun to drive. This car gives me the biggest smile when I drive it! Sure there is all that road noise and rattling from the soft top but you get used to it. Do know that this is not a daily driver car. I have this car and 2 others in the garage. So if this will be your only option for driving around town, I don't think it would be a good idea. Good luck though!!

The S2000 is an AWESOME daily... ...if you love to drive. I drive mine every day and the only time I regret it is the once every couple months I can't carry something ridiculously big. Owning an S2000 is an experience; anyone who likes to feel the rubber touching the ground through the steering wheel, the wind blowing through their hair (or on their scalp in some cases), and an engine screaming freely to nine thousand rotations per minute, should own this car.

^^^ I agree just not sure about daily driving. I mean I love to drive but I don't want to daily drive it because I don't want miles on it.

PLus I'd have to buy used...should I still pursue?
I just purchased my first S2k2k2. I have owned a 92 Acura Integra B16 lowered, Civic B16, 96/01 Civic EX, and the latest 98 Honda Prelude. Out of all of those cars stock the prelude is the most comfortable, but...the S2k is:

1. Pulls much harder
2. RWD is fun as hell if respected
3. Feels like I am in a F16 excluding the ejection lever
4. Girls look at the 2k more then the lude (stock)
5. Convertable FTW
6. Engine burns a hell of a lot less oil, ludes are known for burning oil, its more like a B16 bullet proof monster.

The only flaw is that it has no trunk space, or rear seats but I will compliment two previous posts.

1. If its your DD, you live in snow, and you need space=get a prelude or Civic SI
2. If its your DD, no snow, who cares about space, and need a lady=get the S2K
3. If its not your DD=get a S2K!

4. A S2K is not the fastest for your money, its not the most comfortable for your money, and it does not have the most space for your money but...It is hella fun to drive, the 9k redline makes you feel like you are blasting through space, and its like a go-kart but larger.

If you come to a S2K forum and ask if you should get a S2K when it is one of the hottest small sport cars=your crazy

Every time I sit in my S2K and shift it whispers to me, please rev me. Its the only girl I have had that asks to be revved every second, harder then the previous.

Conclusion get the S2K and screw all other Brands, models, etc...If you have the money set a side more money then you can afford and turbo it, tune it, rebuild it, turbo it again, tune it.

Well that depends on the driver. I haven't driven stick for two years straight. When I got the s2000 took couple moments and I was driving fine and pushing it fine. Its all mental...
