im not saying its not going to be cool as ****..but... how much better can it be? they are not completly redesigning the car...just adding.. maybe 15-20 hp to the engine, imo. </TD></TR></TABLE>

so you are saying ITR is same car as GS-R with 5k worth of mods?
oh wait, you drive gs-r so you wouldn't know

Everything up to this point is just a rumor, how can you say it's overhyped? What if it ends up having a fixed roof? Whatever happens I think it's cool that Honda is releasing ANY S2000's at this point, let alone a special edition. I can't wait to see it.

all a Type-R is, is a seriously striped down GS-R, plus a slightly better compression ratio. seriously.

so i am fairly confident that yes, if i spent about $5,000 in mods.. my GS-R would match a Type-R, and be much more refined.

2 of my buddies own Type-R's, and i have driven them...quite a bit, and yeah they are nice but.. i love my GS-R so much more. The GS-R is 100x Smoother, and i would take it over a Type-R anyday.

u do knwo theres more then just more comp in the motor right?
rear sub frame is also different.
now comparing it to a GSR isnt a good one.. a RS on the other hand is different..
the ITR was built off the RS chassis/shell.... the ITR will hold its value unlike the GSR..... but to each their own.
YES you can get any DC chassis to do the same or better then a ITR but its those lil #'s on the VIN that will put $ in your pocket

I was just trying to say that you can't say the Type-R is better than the GS-R, it all comes down to preference.

Personally I love My leather seats, and air conditioning

maybe if the Type R came in more colors it would be more appealing to me

I would have to agree that it comes down to preference. Owning a Type R I would have to say I would take one over A Gs-R anyday, I've driven a couple GSr's and to me they didn't seem to have as smooth a ride. The corner's in a type r were great as well. Granted you can always add this stuff to a GSR but it still does not feel the same. I loved my ac as well. Any hooo back to the topic at hand.

Uhhh yeah.

I have a GS-R as well, I had mine caged, with a far better setup suspension than your average GS-R, some engine mods, etc, etc. In all the years it saw track days and autocrossing, it was only passed/beaten by two ITRs, one built supercharged, heavily modified ITR, and one stock ITR. The stock one was driven by me as well.

The GS-R without some welding, new subframe, etc will never touch an ITR on its foundation and anything bolted to that foundation is inherently at a disadvantage.

This is a common belief (the whole GS-R with mods &gt; ITR thing) but it's been proven wrong again and again. Some cars look great on paper, but suck in reality, some look like they aren't worth the premium on paper, but are worlds better in reality.. the ITR falls in the second group.

Why even bother Dave? Few of these guys actually drive an ITR hard enough to appreciate the difference. I've driven only 2 at the tracks, 1 stock, 1 slightly modded but it was on a crappy coilover set-up, so it didn't even feel as good as the stock ITR.

if you haven't noticed, 00/01 ITRs came with AC stock while 97/98 was an option.
also i'd take alcantra seats over leather seats anyday.

make sure when you find that NSX you are looking for, that it has alcantra seats, because they r0x0rz

and just curious...how come 3 of your cars are "R.I.P"? i pray they wern't stolen, what happend?

Differing opinions are fine, it's that you clearly speak about things that you have no clue on. You don't even know what's standard or optional on the ITR yet you feel that you can make an educated statement about it.

Yes, the ITR isn't for everyone, and the GS-R is certainly better for some, but to say that a GS-R with 5K in mods will beat an ITR all around is just retarded. Sure, a GS-R with a turbo kit will beat an ITR in a drag race.. woohoo I guess.

Glad you are happy with your GS-R, I'm happy with my POS GS-R too It gets good gas mileage and starts everyday, it's a good beater so I can't complain.

If you haven't noticed, it has better gearbox than shitty regular M3's and that alone i would pay extra for comp. package. not to mention suede steering that comes along.

these specialty cars weren't built same way as other model in that family.
it has more r&d.
imo, a good car is car that runs in harmony with everything on the car, well balanced.
as dave mentioned, gs-r can be faster on drag strip, but will not be better all around track car. NEVER!!!

DC5 - after 3weeks of ownership, at 1072mi my lil bro spun on ice and totalled it
DC2 - some retard ran redlight on me, which gave me herniated disc
AP1 - 1 of 6 victim on rt.95 in CT. there were 5 other incident that day on same location. CT District court ruled - NOT RESPONSIBLE!!!

have you heard something called insurance settlements?
zarnardi nsx costed same as regular nsx when it was released.
i've saw zarnardi running around 50-60k with low mileage before but mostly tuned or SCed which is not one i want
i want virgin nsx which i can't seem to find since there were only 50 made

i thought about buying M3 but not a big fan of it since every other korean kid drives one.
also thought of buying cayman s, but i can't justify spending 60k for basic model. with options, it reachs 100k which doesn't make sense for spending on cayman.

probably wait and buy 08 S2000CR or buy low-mile 03 AP1 and put rest in CD or something
