planning to..
as of right now i'm in iraq. but when i leave here i'm planning on setting up an ap1 for autocross track events. being this is the first car i'm actually trying to build for actual racing as opposed to pretending to street race on the weekends while i was still in highschool i'm not too sure on what parts are the best and if i get this get that etc what else i need. as of right now this is my "list" if you will. any advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks!
up front enkei rpf1 17x7.5 wrapped in dunlop direzza dz101s 225/45-17
in the rear some rpf1s with 255/40-17
those are the definites but i'm quite curious on coilover kits
i've been looking at skunk 2 products (naturally) and i'm pretty set on getting them. however the more i've been researching them and other things the more i see other things i'll need with them. now if anybody else has them on their car and can either praise or **** talk them i'd appreciate the advice. like i said i'm new to the game and i just want to get it right.
btw i'm giving myself a 4 grand budget for the build. all into tires/wheels/suspension for now. thanks!

Re: planning to..
have you raced this car stock at all? do that first, and then pick what you would like improved. there is a heap of info on coilovers kicking around this site too..

I agree with bigmac. Take the car to a few autocross track events and figure out what you need to improve on then figure out what you need. maybe try to fit the same size tires all around, you will need all the grip you can get. autocross isnt my thing so I could be wrong about that.

I agree, try it out stock first! The first upgrade for autocross would be a front sway bar upgrade. Also if you are set on getting wheels, for for wider ones!

Re: planning to..
I didnt even read your questions but I know the correct answer. Keep it stock! Learn to drive then research some good parts for the car. Stock S2000's are amazing little autox cars and dont need much at all to be competitive.
It's RWD.....if anything its the n00bs that dont know how to drive that tells everyone they are tail happy. Hell, you can make a stock miata tail happy. Its just a matter of learning how to drive the car is all.
KISS and you'll be fine

Re: planning to..
^ true story
first off the wheel specs suck ur really gona run a 7.5 in the rear? thats stock ap1 size. most pple run a 17/9 all around with 255 for max grip.
putting coils on ur car will throw it in the modified class where not only r you going to embarace yourself but the car too.
I suggest getting a set of r-comps for the stock wheels cause that all u can run in the stock class and go from there u will learn more and progress. btw tire size isnt limited in the stock class most pple that run the s2k in stock class run a 245/45/16 all around seems to work the best out of all the otheer tire set ups
