http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=758786

btw, i am in no way affiliated with chaser aero, i just thought it was a great deal which i why i bought two myself and this is a hardtop thread so i thought i'd throw it out there...
i think russ from chaser aero closed the thread on s2ki, so im assuming its too late to place an order or a deposit for a hardtop in the price deals he had to offer.

i cant wait for mine to come in.

that's a mugen replica, and it doesn't say if it comes with hardware and how much shipping is. when you add those prices, i'd say about 800 for it, then it'll be 2100.

if you want a frp mugen replica, chaser aero has it for 1150 shipped with hardware and window but it's on back order

but for the OEM i'm not counting shopping price as well its direct comparison... so shipping + tax + assemble by job (this one varies i guess)

Question: Any hardtops out there that are cheap/knockoffs that we would want to stay away from?

Cheap ones that leak or fit like crap etc...

people have mentioned the Chaseraero one's don't fit very well.

it seems that the fitment goes something like this:

On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best.
10 - OEM
9.5 - Mugen
9.5 - Seibon (80% of users say it fits perfectly, the remaining 20% have had minor issues)
9.5 - Amuse
7 - the rest (chaseraero, vis, cwest, giqii or whatever, etc)

my recommendation...if you want the Mugen style, go with Mugen or Seibon. Go with mugen if you're like women who have to have the brand name, Seibon if you want the lighter, more cost effective top.

I see that the prices are listed on the first page. Maybe everyone that wants to share how much they paid for HTs.

What kind and from where we may figure out better places to go and buy etc...

I didn't look through this entire thread, I think I posted in here somewhere before. I got my OEM from Hardtopguy roughly 2.5 years ago for $2975 shipped to my door. It was shipped in the original crate/box thing from Japan and still had lots of the writing on it. It was dropped off by a large 18wheeler. The entire box was light too.

I don't have many good pics of my car. Just got a DSLR recently, so there should be more soon.

Amuse top looks to be the slickest looking IMHO followed by OEM, Mugen and the Moon craft fastback.

Admittedly, I have never seen thier hardtops but Seibon is all knock off wet lay up and sketchty fitment stuff. Those two philips head screws in the first couple posts that aren't properly counter-sunk in and sticking out make me cringe.

Anyone ever buff the OEM hard top down to bare aluminum and polish it?

I'm not sure if this has been asked already, but does the installation of the hard top involve removing the soft top completley. Completely meaning, if you go with the hard top the rag top would no longer be there. I ask this because I want an s2k and the hard top option increases my desire to own one, but a situation where I would have to park my car somewhere with top down for however long just doensnt sit well with me.
