How many of you actually keep your doors unlocked?
As many of you know, my top was slashed a couple weeks back. Some people have told me to just leave my doors unlocked as they will get in one way or another anyways.... Ive heard this before too........ But how many of you actually do it?
Isnt it better to just let them slash your top as it will cause some delay?
What do you think is the best way to protect your car?
And dont give me that 'if they want it bad enough, theyll get it' BS. I know. I dont care. I just want to make it as hard for them as possible.
So far Im getting a paging alarm and I have no idea what else.....
Bleh.

i cant say thats a good idea.
its true that a determined thief is going to get in if they want, one way or the other. but its the "curious" thief that will steal whatever he can get away with easily. and if they see the door is unlocked thru the window, theyre more apt to just open the door and go for the quick steal.
i lost all my tools and motorcycle helmet and a bunch of misc other crap because i left my door unlocked in my crx. im pretty sure if i made sure it was locked, they wouldnt have bothered.
best to install some fuel cut off switch if youre worried about vehicle theft.

If they did that chances are they would write off the car! I know that here in BC Canada the insurance companys were having so many "thefts" of seats. wheels, etc. that they decided that any car with those parts gone are destroyed automatically!

But from what Ive read, those seats will not be the same quality as the OG ones.

yeah, i believe the parts for it come seperated, and the dealership or shop reassembles and rewraps it themselves.
honda factory>dealership or repair shop

This depends on your insurance company. Mine would have my car towed to honda and get an estimate on how much it is to replace the parts with new oem ones. They would then cut me a check which I am in turn supposed to give Honda. Obviously, I would keep it and buy myself some nice things
As per alarms, I had an alarm, kill switches, and lojack on my ITR. It was stolen and never recovered. Neither part did jack **** to get my car back. If a thief wants your car badly enough, they will take it one way or another.

Simple, don't park in sketchy areas. Try to park the car in a safe garage and barter rides from friends whenever you go out to a sketchy area. Or get a second car. There's only so much you can do.
The compustar alarms aren't great. They sold well when I was working at a car stereo/alarm shop but many came back with problems not due to installation error.

compustars are about average, they have some cool features, but sometimes they didnt work 100% of the time like they should.
the viper (dei corp) pager alarm seems to be a better piece from what ive seen...

My car was parked in my apt garage.
Its subterranean, gated and security does random walk-throughs. I live in Miracle Mile, which is supposed to be a 'nice' area right next to Beverly Hills.
The only solution is to get a house with garage but I cant afford that right now...
Id love to get a beater, but that means Im still leaving my car at my apt =T
*sigh*
I asked my mommy if I could leave my car in her garage and she said 'hell no, thats what you get for buying a convertible'

Where's that picture of the South African car alarm that shoots flames out.

unless you have a garage, another beater car is not the solution. my garage is really only useful for storage, so when i take my beater to work, i worry about my s2000 sitting in my driveway...
but ill never get rid of my crx. its way too practical and makes owning the s2000 cheaper quite frankly, as long as street parking is free.

I'm in the same sitaution. But I think of it as a scenario of which is a "lesser of two evils". I'd rather leave my S2K in my driveway and drive my beater than leave it in some shady area or neihborhood for any length of time.

I paid nine hundred something for mine from Honda. I added it to my contract so its about $15 a month <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Tyson »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">how much does lojack cost nowadays anyway?</TD></TR></TABLE>
