Default how can i tell the vehicle color by looking @ the vin number?

i'm pretty sure you can tell a vehicles color by vin number, but does anyone out there have the codes for the vin number and their corresponding colors...

reason i'm asking, is there's a guy thats searching private auction databases for me, and this is basically what he gives me when he finds some:

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Glenn &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
3 40 2003 HONDA S2000 2D CONVERTIBLE 4G/6 10,949 RED JHMAP11433T005928 X W=$25,725 / R=$29,315

7 21 2001 HONDA S2000 2D CONVERTIBLE 4G/6 15,439 SILVER JHMAP11431T006378 X W=$20,825 / R=$24,700

7 22 2001 HONDA S2000 2D CONVERTIBLE 4G/6 36,831 SILVER JHMAP11491T007454 X

7 23 2001 HONDA S2000 2D CONVERTIBLE 4G/5 34,262 BLACK JHMAP11431T001052 X

3 90 2001 HONDA S2000 2D CONVERTIBLE 4G/6 32,235 SILVER JHMAP11471T004925 X

3 280 2001 HONDA S2000 2D CONVERTIBLE 4G/6 30,180 SILVER JHMAP114X1T003753 X</TD></TR></TABLE>
as you can see, they say silver in the color description...but i dont know if thats silverstone, or sebring silver.

ok....you're either really stupid. or you like to make half asses statements, and assume that people know what you're TRYING to say.

because, if you made that statement in reply to the gentleman who said that grey metallic is silverstone, and sebring silver is "silver" as described in the first post...

then in essence you would be saying this...
from 00-01, grey metallic is silverstone, from 02-03 grey metallic is sebring silver...and in 04...grey metallic is both colors? sooo....grey metallic is one color one year, and another color the next...then its the name of the two colors two years later? wow....

what they are saying is sebring wasn't available for '00-'01, so if it's an '00-01 model year and listed as silver, it's silverstone. I'm not sure if silvertone wasn't offerred in '03, but I am sure in in '02 the only silver was sebring. That might help.

Why are you being an *******?

I AM ONLY TRYING TO HELP YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wholly believed that I said it concisely. Sure, it isn't in complete sentences, but this is a message board, not an essay for the SAT.

but, no, you cannot do it by VIN. the VIN has the country, manufacturer, engine code, body type, transmission, final place of assembly, and serial number.

and, yes, i did say that sebring wasn't offered in the 00-01 model year. if i say that 00-01 was silverstone, logically one could assume i am saying that it is not sebring. but no, you go and call me stupid. in 04 both silvers were offered and that is the only model year that both are offered (i belive, not 100% on 03, but sure).

i'm not trying to start a fight w/ you, when i orginally made that comment, it wasn't directed towards you, i'm sorry if it seemed that way, my apologies.

this is the person that i originally was calling stupid. why? simply for the fact that he called me stupid for not knowing that silverstone was offered only in 00-01, and sebring in 02-03. this original quote...
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by steven975 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">if it is a 00-01 it is silverstone. 02-03 is sebring. 04 both colors. </TD></TR></TABLE>
would make absolutely no sense to my question, especially when i thought that both colors were offered since 00, not intermittently. i'm sorry for thinking YOU were crazy for saying that Steven, that was my bad.
But it was foshiz who originally started the name calling now that i look back at the posts. calling me stupid for not knowing what colors were offered which years? thats simply retarded. and yes, i have been going back n' forth between s2ki and ht:s2000 for quite some time now, but thats really to pick up information like the difference between 00/01 and 02/03 ecus, the "weak" differentials, TSBs and other more germane s2000 information than colors.

that's ok. forget it I know yer looking. I'd get a 00-01 as it'll be cheaper and depreciate slower. as long as you get one with a decent rear window and make sure it folds right when you put the top down, it's fine.

One bonus with the plastic window is that it is much bigger and easier to see out of. disadvantage is you can't tint it that well. If yer good with a wrench, you can always pick up a 02+ top and put it in. It'll cost around $700. The premium between a 02 and 01 is $2000 and up, with few exceptions.

The ECU tuning isn't really a big thing...it's just a little revised. The diffs are pretty much the same in 010-03s, it was revised in 04.

The S has shown very good resale values. 00s go for about $20,000. That's about 63%. Most cars sell for less than half. I think the S will have really good resale down the road. 300ZXs, Supras, RX7s and the like also show excellent resale for 10 year old cars. I think the S will do the same. I don't see them falling to under $10K for at least another 5 years.

As for tinting the rear plastic, me and others have done it just fine...it also cuts down on the scratches that make it harder to see
