Anyone's s2k get totaled for stolen seats?
My brothers 05 s2k seats got stolen.
I have done the search and have seen how much dealer cost is on the seats but has anyones car been actually totaled.
the insurance company gave a cheap estimate of only 4k for seat replacements.
plus another 4k for replacement top and fix a dent they caused on the rear quarter must have dropped the seat on the car.
I have told my body shop to actually price out the costs of seats and from what i read on HT the adjuster was way to cheap.

damn....even though he was short changed for $4k on the seats, he more than made up for it with $4k for the top. to get $8000 out of some stolen seats and a trashed top seems pretty good to me.....
anyway, i highly doubt that the car would get totalled out...being that it's an 05
maybe if it was a MY00 with 150,000 miles on it i could see them totalling it, but not a MY05

4k was for top labor and body work when they damaged the car squeezing the seats out of tight spot.

are they writing you a check? if so...your a lucky s.o.b.
in reality, all that should cost you maybe 3k tops...and thats including the labor for your dented qt panel... i cant imagine it be that bad...

Re: Anyone's s2k get totaled for stolen seats? (Techno Tonis)
only reason i am questioning it cuz of this thread
everyone is claiming seat prices to be in the 6-8k range in parts
https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1
there s an actual breakdown on page 2
here s the link
http://www.hondaautomotivepart...=SEAT
total cost 7500
i know i m makin out just be nice to make out with a bit more for the aggrevation
and no more clean carfax history.
that alone is a headache for future sale of the car.

Wow! You've got a nice insurance company. $8k for seats and softtop. I'd take that in a heart beat. Get some Recaros, get a hardtop, pocket the rest.
Usually they'll find you a set of used OEM seats, and pay you for the cost of those. But if they are cutting you a check for 4k, take it. You can even pick up a set of leather Brides, if you don't like Recaros.

yah you can get a new soft top for that and you can get used seats for like 800 in washington. hell most of the going rate around here is 800/pr.
the dent depending on if theres paint missing, would be easy to have repaired by paintless dent removal. id say if they are cutting you a check take it. if they arent and tehy are gonna replace the parts take it to a dealer....an expensive dealer and demand new not used OEM

x2 I can't believe they paid out that much for some seats/soft top/ & a dent......I'd be happy as hell to get that much back. Go buy some used ones for around $1k or less, a replacement soft top and you still would probably have atleast 4k left after replacing/repairing everything.

There is one major flaw that could apply to the whole "Sweet, I'll make money here" idea: If you have a loan on your car and your carrier has to make a payout, almost every carrier will issue what's called a 2 party check. Falls under the loss payable clause in many policy contracts where the carrier will not issue you a check directly to protect the lienholder's interest in the vehicle. They will make a check to 1 of 3 places:
You and a bodyshop, you and the lienholder (this check is useless, can't do anything with it) or to your bodyshop directly.
In each of the listed circumstances, you are responsible for your deductible.
Given the newness of most s2000's, it's safe to assume many people do have some form of loan on their car and fall under this category. There is always the exception where a mistake will be made and you get a check directly. Those mistakes are wonderful.
