Re: (Setsuna F Seiei)
Going with a custom leather setup for the seat? I can't imagine all this fab work and then sticking with the stock seat. I'd like to see some sick design with some heavy stitching to match the overall theme of the bike. Guess you'd have to determine the color of the bike before doing this :shrugs:

Re: (RIP V8s)
ComposiMo, I am back, don't really understand why I was punished in the first place. It is over now and I am around.
Please get me some drawings and a list of dimensions. 2D drawings would actually be better for blueprint standards and for programming of the CNC. Just get me a side view, top view and front view dimensioned out and we will be golden.

DirtySol: Sorry for all the messup and confusion with everything... last friday in between working on the drawings for you, and doing my normal internet searches for things like the axle blocks, i happened across a company that makes a set of axle blocks already in the 3/4" size, which is VERY rare.... i had found a set made by another company, but they were all squared off, and really crappy looking... which is why i was wanting to have a set made... but this setup that i found looks badass, and is already made, sitting on a shelf... so, i think that even though it will cost a little bit of $$ to get it, i think overall it'll be better to go with it simply because it is there and done, and i really like how it looks. Thank you very much for your VERY generous offer to machine the axle blocks... i have a few other items though that i may need done in the near future that i know don't exist, so i'll definitely still be sending you a drawing in the coming weeks if you don't mind
Smokinsax: Yes, there will be something besides the stock seat adorning this contraption
corey: don't be ghey corey... don't be ghey!... hahaha! No, i am not wanting "The Type R of bikes".... but thanks for the idea anyway
acrocat: Yes, we'll be going for something a tad bit more original
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Updates!!! We alllll love updates
Ok, so a few days ago, i was heavily searching around to see if i could find an axle block that i really liked and was already being made, rather than inconvenience someone else to do it in their off time (Thanks very much for the offer DirtySol... i may still take you up on some other parts, but i found a great alternative options for the blocks that is already being manufactured)... at the last minute i happened across the site for Pickard USA... they make custom Chopper parts, wheels, etc.. and they also have a really bad-*** oval axle block that i fell in love with when i saw how sexy it looks... and the best part, is they happened to have a set in stock that'd fit my bearing/axle size!
Thats the block that'll be showing up here tomorrow, and the cover over the axle is not going to have any engraving on it like it has in the picture... that way it'll polish up real nicely, and should look badass on the Ruckus
Thanks very much to Jevon at Pickard USA for helping me out with their custom axle block... this won't be the last project i use a set of the blocks on
SO.... while i am waiting on that to arrive, i decided to do some welding on the rear trailing arm... in particular, i wanted to weld on an additional tab to the long motor mount bolt setup, and then weld up some more of the pie-cuts, and the main trailing arm tabs.
Here is the first tab to weld on...
Then another tab on the same mount, but the other side...
Then, it was on to welding the pie cuts...
And then last but certainly not least, the main tabs for the trailing arms needed to be finish welded...
And there ya have it... the trailing arm is a lot farther along now
I WAS going to weld up some more, and start adding gussets and stuff, but then i heard a horn honk outside... what was it??? It was a SPECIAL DELIVERY! yAy!
Sitting outside the door is the new Panducky Motorsports Motorcycle Lift so that i can do a lot more of these things, and not break my back doing it, and also have a good solid foundation for welding and stuff!
I brought it inside, and started to set it up...
Building it all was fairly simple... and before you know it, the lift was now usable!
And thats it... with this new lift now, expect to see many more really sweet two-wheeled projects come out of Panducky Motorsports
So... 'till tomorrow... i'm out!

Re: (Setsuna F Seiei)
cool man, I am glad you found a simple and quick solution that you liked. Just remember, I am always around and Lowcountry Machining in Summerville, SC is not going anywhere.
Oh, I am also glad to see that you did go a safer route on the axle setup. Just for peace of mind for me I was really worried about it.

DirtySol: No problem my friend! I'll definitely be in touch!
-----------------------------------------
Omigosh, actual UPDATES!!! haha!
So today was a really good day. It all started with the arrival of the brand new rear axle blocks from Pickard USA... WOW these things are awesome! I'll definitely be using these axle blocks on the upcoming Chopper project we're doing!
Here is a pic comparing the crappy hand-made axle blocks, to these nicely machined pieces...
So yes, they are gorgeous!
Now, it was time to install them! So, i first sort of got an idea of where i wanted to have them sit by putting them on top of the old ones...
Then, once i was happy with that, and measured it all out properly, i drew my line, and made a cut...
Then, i spent quite a while measuring and ensuring that everything was square before welding them...
Once i had it where i wanted it, i began the welding...
Then, a similar process for the other side...
And here ya go, all nicely welded on, and ready for some serious Ruck-Roarin' Action!
NOW its looking sexy!
Ok, so enough of the axle blocks... next up, its time to finally begin mounting the Nitrous tank! I want to do this first, because i will have a brace coming off the top of the axle blocks, but i need to build this first so that i can make sure that the brace doesn't collide with the Nitrous bottle mount. This mount is a large structural item, since it'll be holding a lot of weight (it will also be used to brace the turbo, etc..)
So... first things first... its time to bend some metal!
Which gave me this shape... it has two different bends in it... it is not one continuous bend
Then, a bit of trimming later, i had it mocked up where i wanted it to go...
Then, i tack welded it in place, and grabbed one of the nitrous bottle mounts, and tack welded on a tab for where the rear bottle mount will be placed...
Then, i modified the front mount, because it will mount slightly differently than the rear mount due to room constraints...
Well, thats all for today... tomorrow it'll be finishing up the bottle mount, and then starting on the rear trailing arm structure so that i might be able to finally call the trailing arm "done"... haha!

Re: (Jason-)
NEVER ceases to amaze me the progress on this thing. I freakin' love it. Too bad you're always sulking in the corner John and not always working on it!
However for the seat, it might be original but probably kinda lame, maybe like some EF Si material? It would be nice and Panducky is all about them CRXs
