when you think of your 4th gen what do you think of
How many people here think there 4th gen are just too old and not as cool as they use to be. Just wondering if i should just quit and part my car out. People see my car and just think old honda now.

Maybe its cuz i've only had my car a couple months, but every time i look at it, i think of how sexy it is. I love my car, and i don't really care what other people think of it. Although, i've gotten nothing but compliments so far.
Maybe its just the people you're around?

its just a old honda. shouldn't change how you view it because it means something to you. if you enjoy it, keep it. if you've outgrown it, get something else.
i think of all the work i still have ahead of me when i look at mine

I think this the best looking prelude honda has ever made but its too damn heavy, ha. Its probably the only honda with a good attempt at having curves too.

Every time I drive a rental car or other "new" 4-6 banger it's always a POS. All the new cars are gutless, the interiors suck, the exteriors are all the same shape, there's a million pop-up warnings about my tire pressure, my low washer fluid, my seatbelt's unhooked, my oil is due for a change, my check engine light is on and the headlights run incessantly when I just wanted to pop down to the corner store for a fifth. I don't want to put up with a barrage of stupid lights and beeps and voices to drive a mile.
15 years has not improved the fuel economy or the power output of 4 bangers without adding another 400 pounds of weight to compensate. Oh oh, and freaking drive by wire! What a joke. You mash the throttle expecting something to happen and the ECU thinks about it for a second before actually doing anything. So all that fancy technological wizardry ruins throttle response. I just don't see the benefit.
So ultimately the last 15 years of R&D has upgraded the stereo and safety/emissions equipment all while adding no extra power, added no quality, no better fuel economy all for the same price or more. Frankly, I can't see myself spending half my take home annual salary on a claptrap heavy, under-powered rattle trap with a good stereo when I have a perfectly good beater I know inside and out that gets better mileage that's cheap to maintain.
Here's the breakdown on my car versus 2009 coupes:
My current Prelude $4500 220bhp nonVTEC 2650 pounds 12.1#/hp
My current Prelude $6500 270bhp VTEC 2670 pounds 9.8#/hp
Ford mustang GT $28,000 300bhp 3483 pounds 11.6#/hp
Chvy Cavalier SS $24,145 260bhp 2926 pounds 11.2#/hp
Honda Accord coupe $25,000 190bhp 3278 pounds 17.2#/hp
Honda Civic coupe $22,600 197bhp 2895 pounds 14.7#/hp
mazda RX8 $27,185 232bhp 3064 pounds 13.2#/hp
MINI Cooper S $22,600 172bhp 2634 pounds 15.3#/hp
Mitsubitchy 4cyl $21,500 162bhp 3296 pounds 20.3#/hp
Nissan altima coupe 4cyl $22,500 175bhp 3076 pounds 17.5#/hp
VW Golf GTI $23,950 200bhp 3100 pounds 15.5#/hp
If it really came down to it I can pick up a C5 Z06 Corvette off fleaBay for about $25,000 that gets 30mph highway, that looks great, sounds great and has only 7.7 pounds per horsepower.

I've been waiting for years for the car to get old. I want to be an old fogey driving around in my old honda complaining about how honda did it right in the 90's. The prelude really is a great driver's car.

Coolest thing ever happened last week...Some mid 50's aged guy came up to my office and asked who drove the gunmetal honda prelude....one of the guys at the office told him it was an employees and he gave him his phone number and name to give to me ....Said he wanted to just admire the car for a while cause he was a lifetime honda enthusiast....My boss told him he could look but dont touch and he stood out there staring at it for 30 minutes....kinda creeps me out but he was just a hardcore honda fanatic .....and we have 10 cameras looking at and around my car so Im not to worried

The fourth gen was definitely the best. They have perfect body lines, and are made to be driven. I find the cornering ability in a prelude second to none among low level sport coupes.
I think "sexy" every time I look at my car.
