just wondering this sicne i have a friend w/a h22a civic and he swapped out the p13 for a b16 computer and he gets to rev all the way to 8500, it fells weak by then, and he does not push it that far. but would be the most you can rev the engine w/out blowing it?

first of all tell your friend hes a ******* moron.

2nd, put the h22 ECU back in right now or have a blown motor. you pick.

Also, the H22 stock cams drop off right at about 7600-7800 RPM.

Actually james, the stock cams die at about 7000-7200rpm, I'll post up my dyno sheet if you want proof.

btw I rev my stock bottom end out to 8500 every now and then because I have crower 3s in there right now, but don't even attempt that with stock valvetrain.

Actually an h22 can rev pretty safely to 8k,but there is no reason if u arent making power past 7200.

The next post we see is going to be;

I've never revved my old H22 past 7500 rpm and I wont go past 7500 with this one either. Theres no need to if you dont make power that high. I have seen friends take their internally stock H22 to 8500-8700 and nothing catostrophic happened. I personally wouldnt chance it with stock valvetrain.

Ok. So you all say that dont go past 7xxx rpm if theres no need but what it there is a need. Say you have rods that can support the high rpm and cams that will make power that high.

How far can you push the stock H22 crank? Safely

OP, your friend is a tool.

in drag racing, revving a bit higher to land better into the powerband into the next gear is sometimes better than shifting just beyond where you make power.

My mistake sir Matt.

All the old JUN days have clouded my vision. Still, 7500 is just coming into the red so its somewhat safe.

swap ECU's back, and smack your "boy" in the back of the noggin.

I would think 8500 would be as high as I would go. My H22 is beefed up and boosted, but I wont be taking it past 8500.. After you lose an engine or 2 you start to not want to see how far it will go.
