Just so you know.....vtec doesn't "run out" or anything if you engage earlier. lol
So no, it wouldn't hurt your "top end" power but it would most likely cause a big dip in your midrange powerband.

4900-5000 has been MY sweet spot.....a 100 rpm change in the wrong direction has caused HUGE losses into the double digits.....

No loss in top end...I also have mine set at a 4900rpm activation point, but as the guys mentioned earlier, you might get a some hesitation if not properly tuned. Try to get some tuning done whenever you decide to give it a try, preferably on a dyno so that you can monitor the changes.
