Stock catalytic converter length for 92 H23
I was just wondering what the stock cat length on 92 Si's are.
I was going to purchase a "direct fit" cat, but the length that the manufacturer has listed is 13 7/8". I measured the cat on my car and it's 13" exactly from flange to flange. I dont want to do any fabrication to get one to fit, just bolt a replacement in. But the size differences are confusing me.
I also have a header to install and was wondering if the size difference will be a problem.

my 96 h23 cat is about 14" so the manufacture spec of 13 7/8" sounds about right to me. if you measured yours and it's different then i dont know what to tell you but i doubt your gonna get more than a couple responses b/c this isn't something that people would know off hand. the only reason i know is because i bought a direct bolt on hi flow cat (really just a resonantor) and a magnaflow hi flow cat that came wiothout flanges so i made various comparisons between each one and the oem cat.
maybe the cat on your car isn't oem and whoever replaced it used a diiferent cat that is shorter? i think your best bet would be to buy a cat meant for your car and put it in at the same time as the header and if worst comes to worst, bring it to a muffler shop, but that's just my $.02

Re: Stock catalytic converter length for 92 H23 (PreLuDeSiR)
I figured there are quite a few memebers on here who have recently replaced their header and/or cat. I was hoping that someone could measure theirs real quick and let me know.
I'm starting to think that the size is year specific though. According to this website, the 92 Prelude S had a 13" cat and it only specifies '92. All the other ones for 92-96 range from 13.5 - 14".

The one I'm talking about is the 7th one down on the page and is made by DEC.
Also, according to hondaautomotiveparts.com the '96 Si stock cat is a different part number than the '92 Si cat.
