Default Removing an H23 head.

Do you have to take the cams and saddles out in order to take off an H23 head? And if so, how difficult is it?

Yes... The head studs are underneath the cams/caps... It's real simple, just like 20 small bolts to get the cams out, if that... and then the head studs...

use a nice deep socket on a 1/2 inch drive with a breaker bar to pop the headbolts loose.
