Yeah they gave options for people who wanted better fuel economy, and didn't want to pay the premium for power. The si and vtec were so much pricier. The original owner of my car traded his 87 in on a 93, and just bought the si, even though the vtec was available at that point.

You very easily could have knocked a wire loose for the vtec, I would check the ground first, then check continuity on the activation and oil sensor wires. If you need the ecu pinouts they are floating around on here.

I know if you throw a code 22 for pressure switch, your car will run in limp mode. I'm not sure about the code 21 for the solenoid, but my guess would be yes. If you're running in limp mode, ur car will run like ****.

You can open up the back of the ecu connector, it took me a while to realize that as I was originally just tryin to jam my pressure switch pin in and it kept backing out.

Did a couple of test for my code 21 today. It is not in limp mode, it runs rather well now actually it just dont have vtec. I tested continuity between the harness and ground and the solenoid connector to ground, i got a bouncing needle for both test but the harness stayed within spec, around 14-30ohms. The solenoid connecter barely would read and was bouncing all over the place, checked the ground and it is solid. Any ideas? replace vtec solenoid?

Oh and a side note for my day did a dry compression test, seems healthy, maybe a little carbon buildup? 1-200psi 2-190psi 3-195psi 4-198psi / Spec should be 185psi I believe.

Do you have continuity from the solenoid connector all the way through to the pin on the ecu connector side ?

Do you mean bypassing the harness? Pull the ecu and check from ecu to solenoid?

Check continuity from the solenoid connector all the way back to the ecu connector at the pin when u unplug it from the ecu. Just run a test wire through the firewall so you can test for continuity at either end you choose to. At the ecu connector, you can just slide a paperclip gently into the pin to have a spot to touch the test clip to. That's what I do.

A4 is where the solenoid pin goes.
