Default Prelude Soon.....Suggestions Please, No flaming

what up guys, well i am an avid civic tuner guy and i've always been, however a very good opportunity has been presented and i will most likely be getting a Prelude soon.

Its the 93-95 bodystyle and its an Si i'm pretty sure with the H23. the motor has a hole in it, yes you heard me right, a hole. it apparently spits coolant and crap. so what i was planning was buy it for 600 and get a H22 and throwin it in there. My buddy told me to get the 97' and up JDM H22 because they are better tuning wise, and had better oil flow or something. Well i want your guys suggestions, what do you think i should do? Is there something better that i can throw in there?

Also where can i get this lip kit:

Any suggestions are much appreciated, but please dont flame, after all its just the internet

First, Great deal on the lude... (Also, It's a '92 - '96 Bodystyle..)

Second, I'd get a OD1 JDM H22.. Not the '97 up.. OBD1 is Closed Deck, which is supposed to be better for performance..
An H22 is going to be the same whether or not it's OBD1 or 2, most likely.. Unless you get a Type S as md said.

It shouldn't be any more expensive either way.. Well, it'll be expensive to get OBD2 because you'd have to change and convert things to that, which would be an unnessary pain..

are you serious?! DAMM THAT IS GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what do you guys think of this, i'm sure your familiar with hmotorsonline:

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30015

or this one:

http://www.hmotorsonline.com/s...30026

all i really need is just the motor, and i can put it on the tranny which isn't geared as well as the VTEC 22 tranny but whatever that doesn't bug me, but if i'm gonna be paying 1200 i might as well go and pay 700ish more and get a full tranny and ECU and have the full thing and not have to worry about the tranny going on me and stuff, + knowing you did it right is always good peace of mind

if you have a tranny then just get the longblock and save 700 bucks the H23 tranny will work the H22

Correct me if I'm wrong, the h23 tranny and h22 tranny have different shifting points. If you swap in an h22 w/o the tranny, you can't stay in vtec after shifting.

I think you're right actually....I believe they were aquired by VIS.

I don't have time to research right now, but maybe someone can check into it.

i'm pretty sure youre right, thats why my neighbhor was telling me i had to get the tranny as well as the motor. oh and as far as wings west is concerned, my uncle works for a company that owns them and i'm pretty sure they were going out of buisness but they were indeed bought by someone. i didn't know it was wings west that made that lip kit, its really tight

Well I have an h23 tranny in car with an h22 stock ecu and an v-afc I dont have any problems falling out of vtec between shifts. Yes the H22 has shorter gears the the H23.

thanks for the offer, but i couldn't afford that, that car is sick btw. the whole reason i'm doing this is so that i can finally get away from my cursed civic 4 door which never ceases to disappoint me, and finally get something that i'm happy with, without an a$$ load of work (and money) and is freakin stick shift, i cant tell you how sick i am of my automatic.

also its a great opportunity, my friend had it sitting in his yard forever and he doesn't want to hassle with it anymore, i though it was an automatic, otherwise i would have had it by now.

Well I don't know exactly what this guy plans to do with his car. You have your vtec adjusted hence you have no problem staying in it, but for a stock car or a car w/ no v-afc, you will fall out of vtec w/ the h23 tranny.

Here's what I would do in your situation. I would pull the H23, part it out, including the tranny. Then I would buy a full swap from Hmotorsonline and opt for the $300 LSD tranny. You can part out the other parts you don't use too.

I know money is probably an issue, but the LSD is worth it!!! I wish I had the option of getting an OEM LSD tranny. I got a great deal on my swap though. It was local too.

whenever i bought the motor and tranny for my civic , for 150 more i could have got a factory LSD and i almost did it but i was just short on cash, i didn't even think of parting out the H23, thats a good idea
