My 93 Vtec did not come with leather, nor did my other buddy's 95 vtec. So it's a dealer option I guess. However, I have another friend with a 95 Vtec who does have the leather. I've driven his car and mine back to back, and I would say for performance driving the cloth is better, but for straight pimpin the hoes, I'd get the leather

I believe that leather was a dealer option only in the fifth-generation ( 1997-2001 ) Preludes. I have black leather in my 1997 Type-SH. I like the seats in them personally... I just wish that they had slots in them so that I could run racing harnesses.

Re: prelude seats! (mrdeadman)
the only thing with leather is that when you look at a 4th gen with a decent amount of miles, the seats look downright worn, even the ones in decent condition. They all have wrinkles and creases, and lotta of them are torn. Cloth is low maintence. Looks good forever Better friction too to hold you.

Yeah, well a buddy of mine has a 1994 Honda Prelude VTEC. I think the black seats only come in the ludes that have red paint, and it has all black interior. If that might help at all.

My GF's old 4th Gen had black leather seats, the 5th gen that I am finally picking up tomorrow has black leather seats, and I have a pair of 4th gen cloth seats in my hatch.

Re: (DJ_SaNdOz)
The 4th gen seats were designed by Recaro. And yes, my cloth seats are great for grip. Autox tested and approved.
As far as I know, the 94-96 VTEC came standard with leather. I don't know how to explain exceptions to that.

Everyone always says CRX seats are Recaro, Del Sol seats are Recaro, Lude seats are Recaro. Someone from HT actually called Recaro & confirmed that no US Honda seats were Recaro's.....

No. The 4th gen lude cloth seats are really made by recaro. For the 93 model year atleast. Because I have the original brochure from back in 93 that came with my car, and one of the things that it brags about is how the seats are "Race Inspired Recaros".

I inherited a leather lude and while the seats do hold you in lateral like. they are too hot in the summer w/o AC. Im tossing them in favor of black recaro or sparco. How hard is it to get anA.C on after a swap?
