Default new turbo'd engine build

Ok guys, just bought a used engine to put into the lude while i build the one i had. I am going all out on this engine. Here are some of the criteria Im going for:

Turbo'd
NO NoS WHAT SO EVER!!!!!!
wanting to push at least 450 500 whp ( if possible )
street/strip
no head swapping ( i want the h22a4 head and block period )

These are just somethings Im aiming for. Its a 2000 body. So I would like to see if I can get some suggestions on setups, parts, what engine work to be done etc. Anythign and everything would be greatful and this would make this journey a more interesting one at that. If there is anything you guys would like to know please feel free to ask Thanks and hope to hear from some of you soon!

1st thing is dont buy any ebay turbo kits that is a waste of money. Also to make a solid turbo build its not going to be cheap. Next thing is look and search in the turbo sections for things guys have done with H motors

yeah Im buying everything from actual stores no ebay crap.Im not gonna crap this engine out. I want it to be solid. Im already calculating about 5 to 6 grand on a turbo build. what do you think? as for the turbo section, where is that I have not seen that all i see is for sales, wanted, and pics.

There's a turbo thread in the FAQ section in this forum. Read it. All of it. Its been beaten to death and covered 1,000's of times. No one responds because your post is too vague and can easily be answered by taking some time to read the information readily available on this site.

There really are two kinds of turbo people, those who want a kit to go faster, and those who don't.

Those that don't want to do it right, should just do a kit and tune, you'll get ~300whp which is fun on the street.

Those who want more, well, once its done right, they are built to only be limited by the turbo and tune.

This is a rundown that can put you at ~600, and a ~400whp car is really a ~600-800whp car turned down

Precision 5857 or 6262 turbo $900 journal bearing, add $500 for ball bearing, anything smaller is a waste of money
LoveFab mani and downpipe $1000
GE sleeves $1200
Eagle rods $400
Wiseco 10:1 pistons $400
Treadstone TR8 intercooler kit
Tial WG 44mm? iirc
Tial BOV 50mm? iirc
ARP head studs $150
Hondata electronic boost controller
Hondata $600
Boost gauge
Wideband $200
Oil pressure gauge
Water temp gauge
EGT gauge
3" exhaust minimum ~$500 [kteller and vibrant flat black]
Balance shaft eliminator kit $125
H23 timing conversion or solid H22 timing tensioner $100-125
NGK plug wires $70
New timing belt
OEM Head gasket $65
6 puck clutch and flywheel $600
Slicks and wheels $600
Full Blown EG dual core radiator $150-$175ish?
Clean and reassemble stock head ... parts and machine shop cost
Omni 70mm throttle body $100
Oil pump $100
Water pump $60
Traction bars

800+ hp:
Injector Dynamics 2000cc injectors $1000
2 Walbro 255lph $200 or 2 Full Blown 340lph $300
Full Blown EF dual hanger $350
-10 AN fuel lines and connectors $250

~450-500 hp:
Injector Dynamics 1000cc injectors $500
Walbro 255lph $90 + ~$20 install kit

You can use the stock head, it flows fine to over 8K, when you want more power, do cams and valve train.

With this setup you are only really limited by the turbo and the tuner.

Properly built you're looking at around $10k

There is a breaking point on the stock block somewhere between 350-400whp, where the ringlands are known to be weak. Once you cross that threshold you should really do the sleeves, forged rods and pistons.

If you don't want to spend that kind of money, turn down your power goals and go get a kit that will give you 300hp.

Anything more than 300hp in the 'lude on the street is pretty pointless, all you do is spin, so I hope you are planning on racing.

your projected 5 to 6 grand budget may be spent on a good turbo kit on a stock motor.
A properly built shortblock will cost you around 3grand already.
And are you doing all the work yourself or is a shop doing it?
Also don't get a log manifold, they are crappy on H22's from what I have seen.

im doing all the work myself other than machine work. i have a friend that has a shop to dyno when done so im good there as well. everyone keeps asking about budget lol. I dont care what it is if the engine is down for a year then its down. I want it done right. so far I have been looking at getting a lot of skunk2 head internals. eagle rods and je pistons. i know im sleeving the engine just dont know which type will work the best without issues.

as far as the balancer shaft eliminator kit Im kinda doubtful about it. I keep hearing people say not to do it unless the car is going to be strickly drag. since i want to still keep it for street strip i dont think I should be taking them out should I?

They help increase oil pressure a bit, and the NVH isn't that bad. The stout motor mounts you'll want to run over 400hp will create enough NVH and the balancing isn't that bad.

Send your motor to laskey racing if youwant things done right. Amazing customer service and awesome blocks as well.
I got my block and head from laskey and it's still running strong after 5 years of hard driving.

There's only 2 places I would ever let touch my block and they are both in Cali. Laskey and golden eagle. Why go with anybody else?

bro not to talk crap or anything but you have your places i have mine. Have you dealt with every single machine shop in the world? How about in the nation alone? How about just here in florida state? Im pretty sure the answer to that will be no. Im not saying they arent great. they probably are but since i live here in florida and i Know a few places myself over here that the guys have dealt with and I have seen there results on the streets and drags then Im gonna go here. where i can take my stuff to them and discuss face to face what i want and see the results right there and then. each person has there own preference yours is laskey so stick with it bro. thanks!
