Default Need Your Help H-t members!!! Clutch problem??? Trans??

92 Lude w/JDM H22 5 spd

Problem: The idiot behind the wheel (me) haha!

No seriously I am an idiot and decided to do a burn out, ya good idea I know. And she started hoppin like a bitch. And then all of the sudden no power transfer and it starts just revving up...aka no more burnout...***. Ok so now in any gear and the clutch pedal out i'm not moving anywhere, I'm revving the car and releasing the clutch but nothing. And there aren't really any clunking noises or rubbing noises. I am amazed. The car still runs fine. Clutch line still moves the slave cylinder and the clutch fork. And when I release the clutch in neutral it still sounds like a small load goes on the motor...you know what i mean. And get this the car still rolls...huh??????

So I haven't had a chance to really look it over...I just did it like a hour ago and it's real dark out and I don't have a jack to get it up. Haha insert "she said" joke. I'm thinking clutch, pressure plate, axle(s), transmission, could be the problem??

So here is where you guys come in, any constructive advice or criticism bring it on. Come on haterz take a shot...what do you think the problem is other than the big fukin idiot behind the wheel. Ha peace

Try checking your immediate shaft. If that bad boy pops out of the tranny, it will cause the symptoms that you mentioned in your post.

Yeah, start with the simple. Broken axle. $120 for a new one and a little friendly wrench time.

Ok, one more thing: Does your speedometer still spin up to speed? If so, good news! Your transmission is still good If your speedo moves, then your diff is spinning, and it's very likely just an axle (or maybe one even popped out, but I doubt it.). Suppose it could be your diff itself but start with the simple.

most likely has to do with an axle. you probably need a new axle. sounds crazy...i know.....but the best way to find out would be to....look.

I did the same thing to mine but mine didn't hop. Mine still engaged after I did that. The only thing was it was reving while i was driving it. I hope to God that I don't have to get a new axle that could be bad news....

Ok took a good look at the car on the ground. I haven't gotten it in the air cause I'm at school and need to get it to a buddies garage. So the speedo does go up when i have it in gear. The thing is the trans is making a little noise..nothing serious that you would really hear, you have to really listen. So when i can get a good look at it i will check the axles and intermediate shaft. Thanks for the input and keep it coming!!!!!!!!!

You can get an axle for like $50 bux.

That a lot cheaper than dealing with the trans or clutch isnt it

Sounds like a broken axle to me as well.

Get a buddy to start the car and put it in gear, with a foot on the brake. Stick your head under the car and the broken axle (or an axle that popped out of the transmission, or something) should be obvious.

You're too lazy to look under your car to see what broke?

Alright dudes...i looked under the car finally and not liking the result. Tranny fluid started leaking from the passenger side of the diff, or where the passenger side axle splines into the trans. No axle damage and no boot rips.

So this must mean that it is internal??? Differential/Final Drive Gear ruined???? So time to upgrade to M2b4???? Maybe...but I don't have the cash flow. Oh and sorry this is sort of a drunken rant cause its my b-day right now and i just figured out i have to sink more fukin money into my car. Ah such is love

Peace

Get a picture?

How much fluid, like half a quart?

Any chance the axle just popped out a bit? The inner CV should sit pretty flush to the diff.

Yeah your axle may have busted apart at the cv joint, but still be sitting in the boot ok, you hhave to actually get under and check it out, like lay down, grab the axle and wiggle it around, I can even do this on my car that is too low to get a jack under, so its not tough!

Ok...not an axle, intermediate shaft or anything like that. I started ripping the car apart today and got just the passenger axle nut off...that thing was a bitch!!! And i don't have air . Anyways, i'm gonna pull the trans cause I'm suspecting it to be the diff. And I can't decide to fix the trans or just get a new one. Any advice??? If the diff is done could that mess anything else up in my tranny, like the syncros?

I will get pictures tomorrow hopefully just so you guys can get a feeling of what i'm dealing with. Any comments welcome!!!

WELL!!! Guess what it is an axle!! WOOOOOOO Yeah i pulled the passenger axle and it pretty much fell out of the trans...well kinda. I could almost get it out without pulling the other end out of the hub. The splined shaft of the inner joint broke inside the trans and now half of it is stuck in the tranny. So I guess it is better than having to pull the whole trans and replace it. Probably have pics sometime this weekend. Guess i gotta pull the other axle and hammer that bitch out? Wish me luck

Shortcut, you can keep the driver axle in the knuckle (i.e. not **** with the axle nut if you don't have an impact wrench), if you can disconnect the upper balljoint and maybe tie rod end, or the lower balljoint, take your pick. As soon as you've got enough play to take the driver axle off the intermediate shaft, take out the intermediate shaft. Use a large hammer to get the CV off the intermediate shaft.

Good luck getting the busted remains of axle out of your diff.

Edit: to add more ****.

And hurry the **** up, it doesn't take normal people a whole month to change an axle.

Edit: Fuggg...
