is my prelude running rich?
I was told that when i punch the gas my lude puffs out a little smoke and that the exhaust smells like fuel. i have an intake,catback exhaust and a AEM fuelrail. Is my car running rich,if so what steps can i do to fix the problem? ive searched but came up with nothing. any info will be helpful. thanx

Sounds like maybe it is. The only way to tell is to use a wide band. Only way you can fix this problem is to get a VAFC if you are using a p13 ecu and take it to a dyno and have a wide band monitor while you tune. Bad thing about using the p13 ecu is you really dont have to many Tuning options.

my ludes ecu is a stock SH ecu p5p. can any damage occur if i leave it running rich for a while?

hondabigblock's idea is great, try and get an a/f reading, via dyno, to find out where you're running rich and tune it.
if it turns out that you're running rich (12-10) from about 6200 and on, then this is what Pullig and others mean when they say preludes run fat rich.
but if your car is running rich before your secondaries and vtec (4900-5252), it may not be good for your oil lubrication and rings since this is where most driving occurs.
since you have a 5th gen, your injectors are smaller than the 4th gens so it may not be too bad but i could be corrected on this.

This can sometimes mean its time for a tuneup. My 97 prelude was doing the exact same thing, changed cap, rotor, wires, and plugs and that fixed it.
