The igintion on my 92 prelude 4ws auto has always been very pickey... the key alway has to be in just right for it to turn. I was told it was because of anti-theft crap. Anyway, last night I drove home from work and over to a party. I parked in the guys driveway and tried to turn off the 'lude and take out the key.... It ended up being stuck between off (no dash lights on) and where you pull the key out. I couldnt push it key in (you know how you push the key in and turn at the same time?). After about 10 minutes of tring I managed to get the key out. I was like ah, crap, I dont want to be stuck at this dudes how at 4am, so I tried to start the car again. The key turns just fine, like always. Then, as I try to shut it off I can not push the key in... thus the car is stuck running! I can still move the key between start (crank) and on because you dont have to push the key inwords as you turn it for those. Anyways, I drove it home, its sitting in my grage with the battory disconnected (because the car is "ON"... all dash lights still on) and the key stuck it in.
Can someone please tell me what to do, and if I have to replace parts about how much they may cost plus labor? I called up a lock smith but they are all closed on saterday. One place wants just $100 to look at it. I can still drive the car (just dont want to leave it anywhere because the key is in it). I really need to get this done monday, because of x-mas and stuff.

Is your key bent? Do you have any other keys that you could use? You may need a new ignition switch. Thats just something you can change out yourself.

you need the magic touch or just simply replace the ignition. you sure there ain't a button somewhere hidden you can just press to take out the key? try wiggling it or something, maybe your key is bent.

93 VTEC

There is a service bulletin on this, you replace the key with a longer one. The part# is 35117-SM4-901. I had the same problem with my lude when I bought it. I cut myself a new key and it works fine. Also, have your dealer cut your key by code, using the VIN. This makes a more accurate cut.
