i really hope i never have to do that.
i started drilling out the the welds on the engine mount but my drill bits are garbage so i was going nowhere fast. i will try to get a better drill bit tonight or tomorrow and get pics of the removal of the mount.

Re: k20/k24 swap 4th gen prelude.
well, after working for almost 11 hours i decided to get some more work done to the prelude when i got home.
so i tried drilling through the spot welds on the driver side (this will be passenger side for most of you, remember i am rhd) engine mount the other day with some old metal bits i have but the werent very effective. so i went to home depot and got a new 3/8 ridgid cobalt bit. it worked beautifully. i drilled out each spot weld and used a flat backed hammer and a weighted hammer to pry/knock the mount loose removed the driver side engine mount and a small bracket from the shock tower that was also spot welded on.
i didnt have a large grinder available so i used a cutting kit for my dremel and filed down the weld marks that were behind the mounts and brackets. i also used a wire bit on my drill to remove the extra seam sealer behind the mount.
and this is to give you some idea of what will be replacing that oem mount that i removed. i just sat the hasport mount in the general area where hasports instructions tell you too. the mount has 3 holes that can line up with the back battery tray bolt hole. you use this to line up the mount and bolt it in place with a single bolt. then you test fit the motor and make sure it is in a suitable spot. while the motor is in place you spot weld the mount. remove the engine after the spot welding and finish welding the mount in place.... so this is just a mock up but you get the idea.
let me know if you have any questions
thanks for looking

Looks good so far man! I was confused for half a second as I read the last post, about d/s mount when I saw p/s, then I saw the brake booster. Should be alot of fun, I will keep checking in on this for sure!

Just out of curiosity, what made u decide to go with the K20/K24 route as opposed to other swaps available? What kind of numbers are u looking to make out of the swap?

Very koo bro.... do you have any idea if there is any info on a swap like this in a 5th gen lude. I've seen a picture of a shop somewhere in the east that had one done but theres not much info out there on what they did. Just curious nice build regardless the sixth gear will be fun....

I'm really glad someone is finally doing this! I've been wanting to do it for about 3 years now but just havent had the money nor the resources to get it done in a costly manner.
Hope the project goes smooth... cant wait to see it when its done!

thanks man!
a buddy of mine who welds for a living is coming over this weekend hopefully to start helping me with the weld work for shaving the bay. he is also taking my rods and pistons to have the wrist pins pressed in. should have them back by next weekend hopefully.

Re: k20/k24 swap 4th gen prelude.
just a quick update... the wrist pins are getting pressed in and i will have them back on saturday to start assembling the motor.
while i have been waiting i have made a lot of progress on the shaving of my bay (check out my build thread in my sig for updates on that. this thread will be more strictly based on the kswap).
thanks,

Re: k20/k24 swap 4th gen prelude.
Will the Kseries tranny be on the same side as the Hseries tranny if the H was in the car? Or is the tranny on the other side because the K sits backwards.

Re: k20/k24 swap 4th gen prelude.
tranny is on the other side.
here is an article showing the 2 test vehicles hasport used for the mounts and axles.
that will give everyone a little info on the swap.

Re: k20/k24 swap 4th gen prelude.
alright so as i stated before. the mount where the h22 tranny mounts to the frame rail has to be removed and replaced with the hasport unit. the instructions from hasport tell you to bolt the mount in place, test fit the motor, make any minor adjustments necessary, tack weld the mount, remove the motor and then weld the mount in place. the reason for the test fit is because of the age of the cars it could possibly have a slightly twisted chassis. well last year my car was on a frame machine and it is straight as an arrow. plus where hasport has the bolt hole in the mount it really only allows practically no adjustment anyways.
so you bolt the mount through the bolt hole on the mount into the farther hole that once held the battery tray in place. (see placement in pictures).
my friend greg welded the mount in place for me. the mount has plenty of spots to weld and if done right it will never go anywhere lol.
greg also brought my rods and pistons back with the wrist pins in place. so the motor assembly will happen soon. check my build thread in my sig for updates on the tuck and shave if interested.

Re: k20/k24 swap 4th gen prelude.
sorry for the late reply to this. i didnt realize someone had asked a question. as far as i know the only header that clears for the swap in a prelude is the dc header for the kswap into an integra or civic. i however will be having a custom header made.
so, for those of you who havent followed along in my build thread this update is to show you that this swap is still taking place. costs of modification along with me remodeling my home and getting a new daily driver progress has been fairly slow.
The k24a4 block has been assembled with the 12.5:1 comp wiseco pistons, blue print i-beam rods, acl bearings, and k20a2 oil pump. i have the head gasket and head ready for installation i am just waiting for the timing chain tensioner in order to piece the motor back together.
the clutch/flywheel (competition super single) arrived this past week so the tranny is ready go on as soon as the motor is back together.
the engine bay is pretty much ready for primer so it should be primed by the end of this weekend.
